Would there be enough leaps for people to bring them to light?

I guess early on... no. However, as the internet age rolls out, that would increase the number of such incidences reported. And since this is a direct sequel to the original, we get to add those cases as well.

OTOH, I guess those could always be "brushed off" (like with many things on the internet :p ). And people can always just say "they weren't themselves", but I'm wondering if there was ever enough steam for that to pick up.

Another similar case is in the Terminator films, why more people didn't know about machines getting sent back, but it seems similar here... there were just some stray cases that didn't have enough hard evidence to back that up.
