Sorry if this question has been asked, I've tried searching online, but is there a planned second season or was this just a miniseries?

I would answer like this: I don't know if anything is planned (usually it's announced right after the end of the series or soon afterwards), but I believe it's going to be a one-series deal.

And to make a second series would be superfluous. Entertaining, yes, but ultimately pointless.

I would highly recommend Life on Mars with John Simm, if you have not already seen it. I checked out the show, just because of John Simm. I've been a fan of his for a few years, ever since seeing him on Doctor Who.

Anyway, I was quite surprised with the show. It was very well done in my opinion. There were two seasons of Life on Mars, and a sequel show, Ashes to Ashes, which has 3 seasons if I'm not mistaken. While I haven't seen Ashes to Ashes yet, (I plan to), Life on Mars probably ranks up there with some of my more favorite shows. Which is surprising, because I usually hate cop shows.

Just single series shows. They're never made like that in the US so I guess some feel there needs to be a distinction. When we do have them they get called "movie event" sometimes too it's weird.
