Things we learnt from the Shadow Line

Love the series but here are some things I've learnt about the world from this series, please add your own

(1)All criminals drive old crap cars - 20 years Old Lexus', and Peugeot 406s for example.

(2) The 20 year old Lexus was such a tough car it can get virtually totalled in a road traffic accident only to be back in action the week after.

(3) If you're a gangster no one will turn up for your funeral and the priest won't even bother to say anything. But the Customs and Excise officer will make an appearance.

(4) Every cop hates every other cop

(5) Be very suspicious about being promoted beyond your ability at work.

(6) Don't ever let men in trilbies in your house when cooking, it always ends up badly

8 - Jason Bourne trains plain clothes women officers in the Met

9 - Don't bring a coathanger to a gunfight

10 - Hide the cats when Rafe Spall is around

13. All that cops other than Gabriel care about is profit.

14. Give a character a wife with alzheimers and he is instantly seen as a good guy.

15. No-one will ask any questions about who shot your son.

16. (From all police dramas) Never trust your new partner.

17. Living a double life always ends badly.

18. Pensions are a major reason for crime.

19. A professional would fail to change hat and coat (ever) leading to their identification.

20. Letting your illegitimate child run into the room can drastically disrupt the purpose of a Mexican standoff.

21. Gatehouse is immortal.

22. DI Gabriel was immortal...till Gatehouse cut that crap.

23. MI5 plus Police times Gatehouse minus Old drug czars = "Same Difference"

Jake: "Oops! Tell me next time. I can't think in the future."

I just finished The Shadow Line and loved it, but these made me laugh nevertheless. Especially that last one.
