After All Star Superman and the next inevitable Batman feature can we please move on to other characters? They are really starting to wear these two out. Every other movie is Superman/Batman. Im thankful for Wonder Woman (my favorite one so far) and Green Lantern. But why dont we give The Flash his long deserved film. Then Martian Manhunter. Hawkman. And many others.
with all due with respect but boo hoo. I'm sick these I'm tired of Superman and Batman films. Guess what they sell. If something is a profit you keep pushing that something. I don't know about you but I can never get tired of Batman. He's the greatest.
I agree about Batman he is my favorite to. And Im really looking forward to Year one. But is everyone fine watching 20 Superman and 30 Batman animated films in the next 15 years? But if we have to have them then at least let them fight someone other than Luthor and Joker.
June 7 - Green Lantern: Emerald Knights. Essentially a Tales of the Green Lantern Corps movie.
September 27 - Batman: Year One. Adapting the Frank Miller/David Mazzucchelli story.
After that, nothing has been announced yet.
Thanks for this heads up Otaku-Sempai. I was wondering what was going to have their trailer pop up next. And they usually only do this with a prior released movie around the corner or so. And while Superman and Batman obviously sell well for DC alot, i think even they might plan for others DC related heroes in the future down the road at some point, and really mix things up a little. Surely this question has dawned on them themselves from the fans, to do many other variety of special feature animated DTV DVD/Blu-Ray films besides just ones for Supes and Bats only!
I agree in that I will NEVER get tired of seeing brand new, original Batman features! Lol. Having said that I do also agree that it is time that they branch out to the hundreds of other DC characters they have at their disposal. I was really excited when I first heard about the DC Showcases because I thought this was an opportunity for them to test the waters with lesser known characters and do something, anything with them. I also believed that eventually, they could have paired a lesser known feature film with a well known Showcase (i.e. A "Green Arrow" DTV feature with a "Batman" showcase attached) and introduce these miscellaneous characters to a whole new audience by catching their interest with well known character's short attached. Now it looks like they've pretty much abandoned the concept which is very disapointing.
I realize they believe Supes and Bats are the money makers but they need to see that all of these other characters have as much potential as they once did before they were scared to take a chance on them back in the day. I'm not saying "The Question" or "Captain Atom" are on level with Superman and Batman but they could be characters people take notice to once they're introduced. They had the right idea with "Superman/Shazam" why not continue to do features that way as well? Tie a well known "money making" hero to a lesser known hero and see what kind of response you get. Maybe do "Batman/Question", "Green Lantern/Flash" or "Superman/Aquaman" just to test the waters for next year's film slate. The whole point of these films was to do ORIGINAL features (First Flight and Wonder Woman), instead they've just been adapting various comic arcs (Superman: Doomsday, All-Star, Public Enemies, etc.). Which, don't get me wrong have been phenominal but at the same time you have all of these talented writers who are more than capable of creating something unqiue from their own perspectives and experiences. Someone had to take a chance on ideas for these characters from Grant Morrison, Darwynn Cook and Judd Winnick, why not give the actual screenwriters that same opportunity? Do a couple adaptations as well but let them come up with something new once and awhile.
Sundance:"I'll go" Butch:"This is no time for bravery, so I'll let ya."
And i also hope along with that, that they market the lesser known superheroes equally as much as they have done with the Batman and Superman animated DTV movies. If they adapt and give them their own DVD animated features. Anyone could see them taking that chance while doing an all-new movie, but when it comes out it doesn't well nearly enough. Then Timm and co's excuses will be; see unless its Batman and Superman we put out there they don't sell very well beyond their own fanbase outside the comics.
Yeah but you also got to sell and promote them just as much as you've done with the Superman and Batman movies previously!
Whether it'll be; Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern (Corps), Aquaman (lets give him the respect he is overdue and deserving of), The New Gods, Suicide Squad, Swamp Thing and many others etc. When you put out an animated feature, support each and everyone of them equally so and give them all the adverting 'trimmings' the Superman & Batman releases received prior, is all. Big banners at ComicCon and WonderCon, cardboard cutouts at commerical retail shops upon their release, many TV spots & theater trailers and adverts in magazines & billboards etc.
The Batman: Year One animated movie will include one, last DC Showcase animated short that will feature Catwoman. It looks like, other than this, the DC Showcases have been discontinued.

Is that an official statement that they won't make anymore or have they just not announced any after Batman Year One yet?
The DC Showcase animated shorts are done after the Catwoman short. The word came from Bruce Timm; there hasn't been an official press release or anything like that.

I'm glad to see Emerald Knights and especially Year One coming. I agree that I'd like to see other heroes get the feature treatment but, I'll never get tired of Batman. The problem is that WB/DC doesn't seem to realize that we need new vilians for Batman and some his best rogues get to him on a more psychological level.
So. No Wonder Woman. No Aquaman. No Teen Titans. Probably no more Green Lantern after Emerald Knights. That leaves us with Superman and Batman from here on out. SO EXCITED!
I'm in complete agreement with you there Darcsyde01! Many fans wanted to see that happen and come to fruition far as; Teen Titans: The Judas Contract goes.
And i reckon just like Justice League: Crisis On Two Earths was practically a resurrected project coming off from; 'Justice League: Worlds Collide', That the Judas Contract might be revisited if fans made the demands of Warner Brothers and they get the likes of; Paul Dini, Tom DeSanto, Bruce Timm and those previously involved to once again and bring out and put the movie into production once more.
It'll also help get around to the other DC superheroes as fans keep requesting of Warners in the long run also!
I'd love a direct sequel to the Wonder Woman movie. Everything about it from the animation to the voice acting was superb. If Wonder Woman ever gets the live action treatment, then her origin story should be taken frame for frame from the animated movie. Seriously, that was one of the best intros to a superhero movie i've ever seen.
Easy prediction: We'll get a whole slew of Green Lantern related stuff once the Ryan Reynolds movie pops. Same as we will with the Flash if that movie ever happens, etc. Movie marketing is where the money is, and we'll only get the fan service stuff after they're done milking the product for all it's worth in the mainstream.
