This Should've Been The Live Action Movie.

I agree that this story was more involving and varied than MoS, but MoS catered to the masses, which is seldom a good thing, artwise.

As much as I would love to see a live action adaptation of this (it's probably my favorite Superman story) it doesn't work as a first film in a franchise. All Star Superman only works as a final film in an established series. Which is the complete opposite of Man Of Steel. MOS was about Clarks first 24 hours in the suit. So judging it for not being All-Star Superman is a little silly. And being a fan of John Byrne's Man Of Steel run, I was pretty happy with what MOS was able to do.

If anything, the Donner-homage, yet utterly dreadful, Superman Returns should have been the All-Star adaptation. That universe was already established with the Reeves films. And All-Star could have given the Donner-verse Superman era a much needed closure.
