Why is Jack McJackass in this?

Couldn't they find enough British actors to cast as workers in the London office?

reply

Duh! Maybe it's because he's a talented, multi-award nominee and winner. You may as well ask why John Hamm and Will Arnett are in it.

reply

Yeah, sure. McBrayer is so talented that every character he plays is pretty much the same. Someone suggested he's the new Paul Lynde. I agree with that. Like Lynde, the best use of McBrayer's "talent" would be on Hollywood Squares or some other stupid game show that serves as a haven for washed-up one-note entertainers.

reply

I understand that you don't like him mainly because you took the time to start this thread. But to dislike him because "he plays pretty much the same [role]..." isn't enough of a justification, maybe you don't like him personally, like the person he always plays, but plenty of well respected actors do the same thing constantly. Remember that one time Clint Eastwood didn't play Clint Eastwood, neither do i, what about Jimmy Stewart? Cary Grant? Not sure who they are? How about Zach Galifianakis (aside from characters with thick North Carolinian accents), the aforementioned Jon Hamm is nearly always Jon Hamm, Michael Caine for crying out loud nearly always plays the same dude. Being an actor isn't Johnny Deppin' it every time you step in front of a camera. Just be honest and say you don't like him (I'm gonna assume it's because he usually plays wussy, ambiguously homosexual goofballs most of the time). Unless I'm wrong and being entertained by other humans on film or television truly does begin and end with Daniel Day-Lewis.

If you're implying that Jonny Depp doesn't always play the same character in every movie he's in then you're a fcking idiot and your opinion means exactly fck-all.

Was disappointed they couldn't get Spike Jonze again for Doug Whitney. I wonder if it will end up being part of the story.

reply

do we know that spike jonez actually couldn't be in it?
they did reference that the character looks different,
and yes it shouldn't have been a british actor, because the character wasn't british in the first place, he was originally Todd's Boss in the first episode so role reversal

reply

id rather see Russ Tamblyn come back, although i know he is battling a heart condition i think it is, so he won't be returning to twin peaks aswell

reply

I loved when Todd told the girl that her father was in it, except he was his father.

reply

That girl is Amber Tamblyn... his actual daughter and David Cross's wife. So technically he's the father of them both IRL.

reply

Yeah that was the great thing about the joke,
especially since i didn't think Russ was gunna make it in, after his heart complications,
"so he can kill him slowly"
LOL,

reply

I didn't realize McBrayer was playing a returning character that had previously been played by someone else. Still, they could have found someone less awful.

reply

why the distaste for jack?
he was the shining light of 30 rock, and although he has a distictive type of humour he is playing a different character, that is part of the in joke
the way Todd says he looks so different, and says it must be his teeth whitening,
his role is so small as to not be overtly annoying, but it was a abit disheveling at first, but i got used to it, seeing how different the world is

reply

Jack McBrayer is a boil on the asshle of mainstream pop culture that should be lanced with a needle made of arsenic and asbestos.

He was pretty bad in season 3. Of course, season 3 is pretty bad overall.
