Surprisingly Bad Show

This is always the first show Netflix recommends when you finish Arrested Development. That's pretty much only because David Cross and Will Arnett are in it. The humor is totally different, and, really, a complete misfire.
And don't tell me I just don't know British humor. I lived in England for a year. Peep Show and Alan Partridge blow this swill out of the water.
And it's nothing like Mr. Show either. And even Spike Jonez is in it! With that much talent you'd think they would have produced something decent, but no. I'm not her to gripe or troll I'm just here to warn everyone that despite the talent, despite the constant Netflix recommendation etc. this is really bad, surprisingly bad, and super unfunny. Not one joke lands.

Just fair warning.

I actually only started watching because I finished AD and got the recommendation just like you except I find this show absolutely hilarious. I just finished the entire series and was sad it had to end. I don't know what British humor has to do with anything because its pretty much all American humor and British stereotypes. Anyways, this show was amazing.

I'm loving it! Totally different from AD granted but funny in it's own right

reply

It has some similarities to AD if you ask me, specifically those moments where the character is saying one thing and the other characters are taking it in a very bad way

"No one screws Todd Margaret in the ass without paying for it." The epipen. Also the "fart phone" when he *beep* himself. Those are all universally funny. It's not the smartest of humor, but if you don't think any part was funny, I think you are missing out.

It's not British humor and I did find the first episode or two clumsy and hard to like. From there on the show had me hooked and had some awesome humor. Season 2 was gold; the finale was brilliant. Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I really enjoyed this show despite the toilet humor and lack of subtlety.

Even if it means me taking a chubby, I will suck it up!

It isn't about understanding British humor. It's not a very British show. It just happens to have British people cast in it.

reply

I don't know what makes it funny, it just is. It's the kind of show that you either love or hate. I keep hoping there will be a Season 3

soundcrew333 learns what an opinion is. I hate it when people don't like something then proceed to blame the show and try to warn others away, it's just petty and pathetic.

It's pretty awful. David cross is overrated, he has a horrible delivery.

I just started watching Todd Margaret. I like it. I think David Cross is a funny actor, but his stand up really lacks something. I think this show could be great if Cross was less involved with the writing and production and stuck to acting.
