So this movie is by and for and about Jewish people?
Why would the gentiles want to shell out their sheckals for this?
shareWhy would the gentiles want to shell out their sheckals for this?
shareBecause some of us Gentiles are not as narrow-mindeed as you, effendi?
shareI'd say it's for members of civilized societies where women are respected and aren't treated like objects and have to cover themselves up or else a member of their own family would carve out their eyes and cut off their noses...

Which the OP no doubt thinks is a description of Hell.
That's not apparent at all. I do doubt that actually.
shareFor the OP, I am Jewish so I guess going by your theory I wouldn't have spent nights watching Roots when I was a teenager and I wouldn't have bothered to see Beasts of the Southern Wild, or The Kite Runner, or Gandhi or The Life of Pi and the list goes on.
shareI am Italian with many Jewish friends and I can tell you that Italian moms and Jewish moms are almost the same, except that Italian moms make great food and Jewish moms make reservations. LOL!
The name Brewster sounds WASPy but much like with Adam Sandler, I assume that Babs plays a Jew in every movie she is in. Of course, her character's maiden name could've been Lowenstein (her psychiatrist character's name in The Prince of Tides) or something like that.
That said, this was a pretty good movie, and sadly I can somewhat relate to it.
I'm Scottish, and my best friend throughout my college years and beyond was a Scottish Jew. In the West of Scotland we have a black sense of humor, a lot like the Jewish humor based on our perception of one's lot in life, so I think I have a handle on Jewish humor through my friendship with him. Naturally he had both things going at the same time which made him very cynical and very funny. We are both natural comics and together it intensified, we could bring the house down... An open mind is a good thing. Humor is often founded in sadness and suffering.
sharePerhaps because Jewish humor is often based on real life, something we can relate to, and actually funny. Next you'll be telling us that Woody Allen, Jerry Seinfeld, and Zero aren't/weren't funny based on their ethnicity. Put aside your bigotry and learn to laugh.

You say I should learn to laugh. You want me to laugh at Jewish people?
You're just a racist bigot. Ignoring you now.
shareMe, I'd prefer that you laugh at Islam and how stupid it is.
shareNo, nobody's saying to laugh at Jewish people. But Jewish humor is very enjoyable for both those of the Jewish faith and everyone else with a sense of humor. Back in the days of old time radio, The Goldbergs was a favorite situation comedy enjoyed by everyone. Abie's Irish Rose, which was both a stage play and a situation comedy on radio was also a tremendous hit.
Forgetfulness isn't caused by age; it's caused by having way too many stupid things to remember
