What people might miss without thinking, is when Andy and his mum meet the daughter and son of her Ex she named Andy after, is the daughter was named Joyce after Andy's mum, thats why they give that awkward look of surprise at each other, because it shows, that after Joyce and Andrew split up(bare with me), they both had so much love for each other, they named kids after 1 another.

before anyone mentions it, yes i know Andy(Andrew) and Andrew's son Andrew, were both named after Andrew, hence the confusion at the house.

Haha, I actually happened to watch this with my mother and she pointed it out, I think I may have missed it because I was in awe of how surprisingly good the movie was.

I actually called that before the sister walked in the door. I very rarely am able to do that in movies so to me it was extremely obvious.

I didn't miss it! But I wasn't expecting it, I was watching the movie with an open mind.

It was completely wonderful. I thought Andy was going to meet the girl of his dreams in the sister, but the writers went the other way, which is refreshing.

I agree. Although I guessed that the Andy Margolis in SF would be the son and that the father would have passed on, it never even dawned on me that he'd have a daughter named Joyce. This wasn't my favorite movie, but that moment was really great.
I'm just surprised that people seem to have missed this major plot point!

I know..it was basically the climax of the movie!

Okay - I'll admit, I didn't catch the Andrew/Andy, although the Joyce/Joyce was obvious. I wasn't really paying attention because the movie was kinda bad. I just thought of Andrew's character as "Seth".

I had subtitles on. It was hard to miss.

I knew that was going to be her name when the daughter came into the room.
