just watched on netflix. 5.8? BS

I just watched this on Netflix. I was completely and utterly shocked how much I liked this film. I like Rogen. He can be funny, but when I originally saw trailer I thought this movie looked awful. It ended up being a very touching movie. It had a couple really funny parts and a lot of parts that just put a smile ony face. And the end, where we find out that the Andrew that Joyce (seths mom) dated was dead but he named his daughter after her, that was very touching.

The fact this movie has a 5.8 is a joke. At the minimum it should be around 6.6 or so. I gave it an 8. A few cliches but overall a really moving movie.

I could not agree more! I was shocked at how much I liked it and embarrassed to admit I cried at the end lol.

Same here - It is tough to know how IMDB calculates the ratings and if our votes are counted or not

I gave it an 8 too & what's with the Razzie nomination for Barbara??! :( so uncalled for. I really enjoyed this movie, it had the right amount of humour & sentimentality. The chemistry between Seth & Barbara as mother & son was also very natural. Definitely recommending this to my friends.

She was awful in this. Such a caricature of the overbearing Jewish mother, to the point of it becoming insulting to the audience. Even when he says he's tracked down the love of her life and is driving her there, shes still somehow the victim and he messed up.

He asks her nicely to stop talking. She can't and it messes with his presentation so he tells her again in a mean way and she calls him self absorbed and ungrateful, etc.

Some of it is the writing of her character. The other part is Babs hamming it up and taking the fun out of the movie constantly...

I gave it an 8 too, some really touching moments, and Mrs Streisand certainly didn't deserve a Razzie for it! She was funny and fantastic.

Just saw it on Netflix as well and liked it a lot. And like you, the low dating on IMDb surprised me. I have it a 7/10.
