The first official trailer comes out tomorrow (11/17/2016), so be on the look-out for that! I'll post the link here once it is up!

I don't think I've been this excited for a trailer in a long time.

Is it wrong for me to set my expectations low? I haven't read the book (although I do plan to) but I have seen the trailer and while I am interested in the film, I can't help but be disappointed by the director's past credits - a few short films that were either never released or very few people saw and a couple of indie films with below average ratings.

I don't like to cast judgment before seeing a movie but sometimes a director's past credits can speak for their future ones, you know?

Will still see the movie, regardless. Looks interesting.

Hope changes everything.

No, I wouldn't say it is wrong. I can understand your worries. However, I have closely followed the production of this film since the very beginning and it seems like everyone, especially the director, has treated this story with care and depth, which is most assuring to a book fan. I actually had low expectations to begin with, simply because of the production company (Awesomeness Films). I was preparing myself for an online release and was happily surprised when a theatrical run was announced. But everything I've seen has only raised my expectations - to the point that they're probably too high. But again - I can understand your concern. I think going into any film with cautious optimism is the best for being pleasantly surprised. Thanks for sharing your thoughts - I love hearing non-book readers' opinions on adaptations. And on that note... I definitely recommend the book! :)

I completely agree. It's always better to set your expectations low - or be cautiously optimistic- and be pleasantly surprised, than it is to set them high and be disappointed.

I was thrilled with the trailer for The Girl on the Train and since I loved the book, I was uber excited to see the film. My hopes and expectations were high, seeing that it's director was Tate Taylor, who also directed 'The Help'. I was hoping it would live up to my expectations but unfortunately, I was quite disappointed.

Thank you for the recommendation :) I will make the effort to read Before I Fall, hopefully before the film's release.

Hope changes everything.
