It was predictable and a bit convoluted but c'mon...

Too funny and adorable to hate. I laughed so hard many times in the film and I can't get last how amazing some of the imagination and characters are. Very sweet and great family film. 8/10

I thought it was great! I only wish they hadn't made the girls obsessed with finding a mother and left Lucy as Gru's partner (in crime) rather than his love interest. That was the only way I saw it as "predictable." The convoluted doesn't make a bit of difference to me. Just looking at the characters in the first teaser trailer for the first film told me that this is a dispensation of reality.

The entire Margo subplot with El Macho's son could have been cut out and the entire movie would have been the same.

reply

No it could not. Gru's only reason for coming to the Cinco de Mayo party is that Antonio invited Margo.

reply

He means on an emotional level.

reply

That's easy to write around though. Just have El Macho invite Gru to the party as he is new to the Mall.

reply

Yes they just put that in there to give Miranda Cosgrove more lines.

I also loved it, it was just way too fast. They need to slow down and let us enjoy it.

Frankly it was rubbish

I think what it was is DM1 story/plot was tighter and they utilized the girls more. That said, I still think DM2 was pretty darn good. It still felt like a very faithful sequel to the first movie, and I still found it thoroughly entertaining and brilliant with the details like the first one.
