Yeah yeah, the minions are cute, but...

Am I honestly the only one who get bored by all their running and screaming and water splashing and such? The only one who felt "Well, enough of the Itchy and Scratchy - get on with the story!"

They are perfect for short stories like the three ones on the Bluray though!

reply

I didn't get bored of them, they're just so darn funny to watch.

They were in the first movie. But once the studio realized people actually found them funny, I'm finding them to be overkill now. The minions know you're in love with them, so now they think they're funny, and thinking you're funny is not the same as being funny.

the minions became Urkelized in this movie, people loved them so the obvious thing was to use them more. Except most times there scenes felt like a short instead of part of the movie.

reply

The minions nearly ruined the movie for me.They were so likable in the first.
But in this,as you said..i got bored by them 10-15 minutes into the movie,,

reply

they're for simple people and kids.

You will find the ones defending them just find them funny. They are lucky to be entertained by such simple things :(.

reply

I'm not a kid and am far from simple. I think they are funny. Sorry to break it to you but just because you don't like them doesn't mean that anyone who does is simple minded. They are silly and fun which I appreciate in between all the mortgage and refinancing worries, family health concerns and petty work politics.

I'm with you. I've got a PhD and don't like silly humour but the minions were simply a riot

Touché!!!!

They get very tiresome after a while i agree. They are amusing but only in very small spurts. This film just overdid it completely.

Take the Minons out and this is a pretty soul-less movie.... they add the (cheap) laughs that get this movie going and without them this movie would be pretty bland.

They were clearly more popular than expected, and suspect a lot of people have watched this just for them (pretty much same as the Lord of the Rings and the people going to see the Hobbit just for the Golumn scene... still remember being in the cinema and people started cheering when he made his appearance)

I agree. Too many minion scenes. They were just supposed to be comic relief, not the main characters.

jerryrip, actually they were supposed to be the main characters in this film. The creators felt the minion love and I think they're adorable now. Without them, I don't know how the movies would be. I saw the second film on my brother's laptop (it was hooked up to the TV upstairs) and I also have a Japanese poster (from Japanese class) of the movie. But I did see the movie last December a week before Winter Break on a weekend. I totally fell in love with them by the end. When I first saw the credits when the movie became available On Demand, I saw the credits and they were funny. I can't wait till the Minions movie. I love the minions and I almost get brought to tears when I watch the movie now and I'm at the part where the minions sing "I Swear." I love that song and I love the minion version ("I Swear" is "Underwear" in Minionese). It's just so beautiful. Most of the humor comes from these little yellow creatures and they're hilarious.

They were able to make the minions part of the main plot and not just simply the comic relief. You can see that they do have somewhat separate personalities while still being silly.
