Gru speaks English with a pronounced accent. What country is he supposed to be from?
shareIf they ever specified where he was from, it wasn't in the movies. I think he's supposed to sound Eastern European, leaning towards Russian. It gives the impression that he's a relic of the Cold War, and his best villaining days are behind him.
