If you haven't read the books...

this is a very...confusing movie. "ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!?!" Why yes, yes I was. But did I understand a lot of it? No ... no I did not. I heard the books were real good, but I should've stuck to my guns when I saw the rotten tomatoes rating of 9%... man... ouch, that bites. (Hah, get it?) So real question, are Dhampir's vampires or are they just 'guardians' of the other ones? Bunch of other unanswered questions, but that one mostly cause I don't get it. Yes, it's a vampire academy, but the main chick never contributed to uh... vamp behavior lol.

(Although I could just google the answer... but nah)

Dhampir are human/vampire halflings. They are an established creature of folklore so it's nothing new that this brought to the table. They are not as popular as vampires for obvious reasons, but you can find them scattered through out pop culture. Most notably, Blade and Bloodrayne.

They didn't look like hobbits at all!! :)

I don't love her.. She kicked me in the face!!

I haven't read the books. I thought the movie was great fun. Had a similar feel to "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" only it was a bit more fun.

They explain everything in the first few minutes. You just have to listen. I had no problem with it, and I read all the books after (and because) I saw the movie.

Same here: read the first book after the movie. Then, right after I finished the book (like minutes after), I decided to watch the movie again and my god was I disappointed! Only a few things feel okay, but Lissa's attitude throughout the movie isn't evolving at all, compared to the book and that I hated the most.

In what kinds of ways did Lissa's attitude evolve? (I think I was probably too enchanted over finding the world I loved and only knew from the movie "fleshed out" in the books to properly notice, it was like getting an addiction met)

I haven't read the book, but understood the movie perfectly. Not a vampire flick/book fan at all, but this was just playing on tv and I wasn't doing anything so I decided to watch it. It started off really weak, but gradually became a bit interesting. It was an ok flick, nothing more, nothing less.

As someone said above, you just need to pay a bit of attention to Rose's explanation, and you'll get it perfectly. This is probably one of those movies that are likely to get higher votes from people who actually haven't read the books, as they're not expecting much. I know I wasn't. An R rating would've been interesting though...

I haven't read the books either, but followed the story fine. Rose is half mortal vampire and half human, Lissa is mortal vampire and the bad guys are immortal vamps.

Came here to say this, basically. VERY confusing, trying to accomplish too much. I bet the books work better...

"this is a very...confusing movie." No, Vampire Circus is a very confusing movie. I thought this movie was a lot of fun, and I haven't read the books.

It was pretty simple and easy to follow.
