The plot summary states that this movie is about the indigenous people of the area, but I'm not sure that is correct. The movie has only a few minutes on the local indigenous people and the trappers are Russians, not Siberians. At least that is how it struck me.
You have a point, but it hinges on the meaning of the word "indigenous." It can be synonymous with "aboriginal" but not necessarily. The film was not about the aboriginal peoples of the region (although some mention was made in passing of the Kets); however, ethnic Russians have lived in the region for centuries so they have a claim to being "indigenous" if not "aboriginal."
