Terrible

Hard to get through. And I like Mia Wasikowska and Nicole Kidman.

Yet you looked this board up.

Idiot. These boards are for communication about films, positive or negative. Many people come here to get opinions on films.

So *beep* off.

I know it's not just me but I have often found that literature and film worth experiencing is often uncomfortable and challenging... I'm not trying to say that this was some magnificent piece of art but I honestly can't agree with a lot of the 'crap' people have written here.

But what do you expect from people who think the most interesting thing they can write about on IMDB is how much so and so looks JUST like so and so.

Are you having a go at me?

reply

andyofne,

I've only just watched this film, followed by reading the discussions on here, and I must say that I agree with you
It's an eternal mystery to me why some people go to the bother of writing what they do, and this particular film seems to have attracted a disproportionately large number of strange people/comments

FWIW, I think it's a brilliant film which I shall watch again very soon

As with any film, had I thought it a pile of crap and a waste of my time, the last thing I would have done was come on to this part of the site to waste even more time reading all about it, let alone to then start whingeing to the world that I didn't like it
Yet, that's what these sad, weird-to-me people do; usually in moronic language
It's just a form of attention-seeking, IMO, and it's increasingly prevalent

As for this reply to you...

Idiot. These boards are for communication about films, positive or negative. Many people come here to get opinions on films.

So *beep* off.
What can one say?
I really can't be arsed to deconstruct that but suffice to say that, from the use of the word 'communication', it's apparent that Soodinum also doesn't know what irony is

What larks, Pip!

I get the feeling that superpeter1's going to be looking for you at playtime...

I thought it was okay. Some of the scenes bordered on overdone, like when Mia was down in the basement swinging the light fixture, others were still and a few beats too long but I understand the point was to show she was weird even before her dad died and Uncle Charlie showed up to bring out her true nature. I dunno, I liked it alright and some scenes were done well (the shower scene was fantastic and the flashbacks appropriate) but maybe I'm just too used to Americanized horror. I adore Japanese horror though, so I don't know exactly what it was about this movie that put me off here and there. I think Nicole Kidman wasn't really a great fit either.

Yep a big pile of pretentious awful.

I usually love these kinds of movies but I just didn't ever establish any connection with this one.

As I always do when I don't like something I was expecting to our that so many others do, I came on here to see if that was because I missed some plot point, misinterpreted a scene, didn't get the context...but alas. The parts of this movie that people seemed to love were my least favorite. Oh well! Not every movie is for everyone.
