so why did Elizabeth send one of her sons away?

I mean there's two scenes that implies John picks on him (not eating vegetables and being forced to hold two bricks while wearing a dress?) I'm still confused because this movie is rather vague

I don't think she ever sent any of her sons away?? Not sure where you got that impression from but she never sent her kids away anywhere...we just see them less and less as the movie progresses. Except for Troy and Jamie.

She asked Jamie to and that's why you see him packing up his little brother's clothes.

Don't forget, the mother participated in one of the murders so she knows what John is capable of. And she sees him making the kid wear a dress and lift bricks, that's why she sends him away.
