Fred the schizophrenic

When Jamie is getting prescription drugs for schizophrenia, under an assumed name, under the eyes of John, was the purpose of this explained?

reply

I believe he was scoring the Drugs for John. John enjoyed indulging in Drugs and Alcohol despite being so gungho about killing Drunks and Addicts.

They were continuing to get welfare money and drugs by posing Jamie as Fred Brooks, a victim of Bunting's. So Jamie pretended to be Fred when they would go pick up prescriptions, welfare cheques, et cetera. Fred was the mentally challenged fellow with the snake, I believe.

ahhhh. this explains it entirely. thank you.

No, Fred was the skinny kid--he looked like Jamie--who was (probably dead at the time) in the bathtub with his one arm crossing his body when Jamie was in the room just sitting there, but the audio was the forced phone call that Jamie was actually guiding Fred through, while they showed John wiping himself down with a towel to the side. It was after the brutal torture and death of half-brother Troy, but in the same tub. The following scene had Jamie pretending to be Fred at the doctor's office and at the welfare office. I'm certain the whole point of that was to get the welfare money for John. The snake kid was later on and was a kid John was asking Jamie about in the car as they were watching him at the school or park. Jamie barely knew him.
