Just wow, they sign up one of the world's biggest pop stars for this movie then don't once use her for a song? That's beyond dumb. Adding insult to injury, she only has like 2 lines!
Clearly they only wanted her name for the poster. I don't know why Gwen would humiliate herself like that?
My guess is that she was originally slated as the lead, but now that Kendrick has marquee power Gwen got bumped but still decided to collect a paycheck with a cameo.
That is a shame. It probably was a result of post production editing. She's still part of the music, though, isn't she? I saw her name credited in some of it.
It's possible they planned to have her sing but cut it. The soundtrack includes a song a song called "What U Workin' With" with her and Justin Timberlake, that, as far as I know, doesn't actually appear anywhere, even in the credits. Of course it's possible that song's there for other reasons.
She's also technically listed on the soundtrack for the mash-up song in the troll village, but I don't remember her actually singing in it.

If this sounds like an exaggeration to anyone reading this thread, it isn't. I saw this twice, and the second time I decided I was going to count all of her lines (not because I'm a fan or anything, I just had been thinking about Dreamworks' pointlessly huge casts a lot and wanted to see just how little that pointless character in particular talked). I ended up stopping and forgetting because I'm pretty sure she only has two and she does both at the beginning of the film (and one of them's more of a surprised squeak than a line). She chimes in sometimes when there are like five characters talking at once, but that's it.

Thanks for backing me up :) Apparently nobody except me and you care about Gwen anymore - at least, nobody under 30 cares - because I haven't seen a single other comment or article addressing her bizarre absence in this film
