Kevin hart has been casted for the remake

i am not saying that it will be bad, even though i would not have high hopes, but i guess it is safe to say that the charme of the original is therefore utterly lost. who will they cast as the second protagonist? jimmy fallon? maaaaan, he and queen latifah already gave us the worst possible "taxi" remake.

reply

Now we need Adam Sandler as Philippe ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

reply

damn, i am not sure if you are being sarcastic.

i love sandler. still do. nevertheless i don't think he would be a matching fit. well, unless they have to just take a couple of inspirations from the original and go the completely goofy route, which isn't unlikely but sounds quite unsatisfying.

reply

LOL! That would ruin it for sure!

They already picked the cast, Bryan Cranston and Nicole Kidman will be in the movie.

I don't know what to think about this. If they manage to repeat the chemistry between two main characters, this could end up okay. But I somehow doubt it, even with Bryan Cranston.

reply

I'm doubtful, as well. I'm not sure a partnering up of Cranston and Hart would produce the same result as the one we had with Cluzet and Sy. And I'm not sure Hart has the acting ability/style for this kind of role...

I'm also worried (well as worried as one could be about a movie) about the tone and feel of this remake. Americans don't always excel at modifying European sensibilities (or foreign ones, speaking more generally).

reply

The first sentence in the movie description doesn't quite hit the target either:
"A comedic look at the relationship between a wealthy paraplegic and an unemployed man..."

Original movie was much more than just "comedic look". But I'll restrain from predicting anything else before we learn some more about the movie.

reply

Yikes! That doesn't sound very good. But if you don't make it a straight up comedy, how would people know when it is appropriate to laugh?

You never know how these things might turn out, but I won't be holding my breath for this being a subtle blend of drama and comedy...

reply

let me put it like this: have you ever seen a film or a show where kevin does not scream like a luatic and make "funny" faces?

reply

No!

That's why I don't understand this casting choice at all (beyond Kevin Hart being the new popular black dude in Hollywood). And actually, I think Will Smith or Jamie Foxx would've been better choices. I know they are obvious picks, but they're still popular actors, and have range.

reply

Totally agreed. Smith and Foxx would be good choices. It shows just once again, that they don't understand or don't want to understand what made the original great. What confuses me though is that all the other casting choices are actually rather well.

reply

Nope.

😎

reply

True. I doubt it will be anywhere near as good as the original.

reply

thanks. both good choices. nevertheless i am extremely doubtful that kevin can keep himself from fucking it up. either you love him or you don't, but he's the same character in everything he is in. kinda like tracy morgan.

reply

Amen.

reply

Oh lord. It sounds like crap.
