You people of imdb...sometimes.... 8.6? I love the movie but this is not the rating it deserves. Upon reflection, its a pretty kitschy drama. It is well written and has excellent acting by the two main leads but it doesn't deserve the spot it has right now. Its emotional and all but guys, that doesn't make the movie a "masterpiece". Its a well made drama, no more no less. Film wise its very generic and kinda corny. Some people are too easily impressed
You don't get it, an 8.6 means most people gave it a 10. If the most given score was an 8 the rating would look completly different. Also, theres a huge difference between a movie that gets an 8 and an 8.6 on IMDb since there is no almost no movie rated over a 9
You don't get it, an 8.6 means most people gave it a 10.
Not really. You can actually check the stats for overall ratings... 28.9% gave Untouchable a 10. So 71.1% rated it lower. 28.9% is a lot, but it certainly isn't "most people."
I think you are trying to refer to the 'mode' rating. Even with that definition - "most people" actually rated this a 9. So either way the point doesn't really stand. As far as I know, the ONLY films on IMDb to have "mostly" perfect 10 ratings are: The Godfather & The Shawshank Redemption. I don't think many people are putting Untouchable in that league.
Maybe you just meant that it's inclusion in the Top 250 is surprising? With that I would agree. But calling a film "pretty kitschy, very generic and kinda corny" - then rating it an 8 seems like pretty inconsistent critiquing. Just saying...

A film can be simple but still be executed well. This movie was done in a very nice and charming way but its still pretty by the numbers. An 8 is justifiable because its simply a feel good movie with great great charakters. However ranking it under the best movies of all time is a bit much.
Yes, I agree with everything you just said. Your OP just seemed very fixated on the actual score of 8.6. Which seemed stupid when you basically rated it the same.
Obviously there are many films that deserve to have a higher rating than Untouchable - but I don't think that means this film does not deserve it rating. It's a flaw in the website that more famous films will inevitably draw more negative attention, so the Top 250 will always have some obscure titles that seem surprising. The fact only three films on the whole website have an overall rating of 9+ is itself ridiculous. Obviously far more films deserve that accolade.
Lots of people obviously loved it and gave it a high score...
Why would you have an issue with someone else opinion?
If you have a baby and you think he or she is the most beautiful baby in the world... Does it matter that others won't feel the same way?
My point is... I loved this film and gave a 10... It was flawless in my eyes. I gave many films 10... Doesnt mean they are all equal as "10"s. It just meant I found them flawless and thoroughly loved the film.
Why would the OP complain about how someone else loves something...
