It's ranked higher than all time classics. Only 2 away from Psycho!! It's crazy.

My only explanation is that it is one of those rare films (like Se7en) that had just had enough of an audience to vote it up the mandatory thousands of votes, but is so genre-specific that nobody gives it a bad grade.
In other words, they are films few people dislike, and the people who would vote it mediocre 5-6 havent seen it. Shawshank redemption has a high score for the same reason; nobody who saw it disliked it. Hence few low votes, compared to Godfather, which a few viewers found boring.

Exactly. Plenty of people like it and almost nobody hates it. True greatness is rarely possible without some degree of divisiveness. Still, the rating is a bit surprising. It really is 7,6 not 8,6 movie, IMHO. share

You're talking about a ranking that has The Shawshank Redemption as the best film of all time and The Dark Knight as the 4th. Enough said.

But Shawshank Redemption is very good movie, masterpiece and one of the most inspiring i have ever seen
And Dark Knight being 4'rth is effect of Nolanist Fanboys giving Godfather 1 and The Dark Knight 10, but yes Intouchables is very overrated here
I can understand (at least try to) every weird thing about this list but this is absolutely ridiculous.
It is a very simple movie in all aspects...
