Incest! A game for all the family!
shareSo? It's in the legends. Have you not read or watched other Arthurian stuff?
shareYou do realize the original Arthurian legend has incest in it?
If one good deed in all my life I did,
I do repent it from my very soul.

Depends on your definition of "original", a tricky one, especially when it comes to Arthurian legend. There's a wealth of Arthurian literature without the incest, before it was introduced in the 13th century. Just because it's probably the best-known medieval Arthurian tale does not make it the original one.
"Occasionally I'm callous and strange."
Point taken but by a large a decent portion and more modern adaptations of the legend contain the incest. Though the last theatrical release did not even have Morgan in the film.

Exactly. The incest is about audience expectation, not "true story". It's all the more significant that when people think incest in Arthurian legend, they tend to think Arthur and Morgan. While prior to the 1980s, tales of the incest (whether medieval or modern) involved Arthur and Morgause. We have John Boorman and Marion Zimmer Bradley to thank for that change. A movie and a novel, twisting close to one thousand years of Arthurian tradition. I don't mind of course, the literature is still there for anyone to read if they care; it's just rather amusing that such a drastic change in the way people expect the story to be told happened so recently and over so little time. I suppose osmething similar happened when the incest motif was first added in the Vulgate Cycle. There must have been discussions along the lines of "WTF!!! Arthur sleeps with his SISTER!!!!! What's wrong with these monks? How could they write that? It's totally out of character!"
