Trick questions

I read somewhere that the bubble trick isn't real - it was conceived for the movie and accomplished through CGI.

As for how Henley got out of her cuffs with "actual locks" on them, my use of parentheses around "actual locks" sould give you the answer. You can buy realistic-looking trick locks in any halfway well-stocked magic shop.

But as for how Atlas shed his cuffs and threw them on Dylan, well, you've got me there. If they were trick cuffs I'd have an answer for you, but if they were the FBI's cuffs then I bow to any real magician who can pull that one off. It sure was a cool-looking scene, though.

Ok...I love this movie. I'm ALWAYS the one who loves the magic more than the explanation. I completely agree with Alma. If something makes you smile, laugh, or just makes you happy, are you really being victimized? If magicians are "taking advantage" of people, so are singers, comedians, actors, etc.
The bubble "trick" was too cool, even tho it was CGI. It's beautiful. I'd like to know how JE got the cuff key into a closed can of soda. If memory serves, and it often does not, the can was unopened when he asked Alma if there was something wrong with it.
I was actually kind of ticked that they showed the rabbit box trick secret. I watched the movie with my granddaughter (after making sure it was suitable for kids) and she said, "So THAT'S how the magician at Caroline's party did that! I thought he was magic!" She JUST turned 7. Still young enough to believe that there is magic in this world. Life will show her soon enough how un-magic it can be. It saddened both of us to see that slip of disbelief get taken away. I wished that I had remembered it in time to fast-forward through that part.

You just watched a movie and the bubble is just a tribute to Glinda.

None of the tricks were "real" in the sense that an actual magician could perform them in real life.

That's the point - the horsemen were movie-superior magicians, able to do things no real world magician could ever do.

Same with movie-marksmen; no real human can shoot as well as Martin Riggs (Lethal Weapon), John McClane (Die Hard) or James Rhodes (Iron Man 3). We just accept their superhuman abilities for the sake of the film.

This sometimes leads to problems. Criss Angel got into some trouble with Vegas producers who thought his TV magic tricks could fool a live audience. In reality, a number of his "Mind Freak" stunts will only fool a single camera.
