harveyblunts' review
Gather round folks it's time for another movie review from your boy harveyblunts. If you don't want spoilers, then you probably shouldn't read this review, although I won't give away anything too crucial.
Now, I'll cut right to the chase and describe this movie as fairly formulaic, and in fact almost trite in the execution of its elements. The characters, aside from that of Liza, are all cookie-cutter archetypes. The blatantly evil, two dimensional villain. The hero figure with a martyrdom-based past and a two-sentence background story that immediately paints him as an invincible powerhouse. The stern-but-caring father who eventually forgives his son. The calm and stoic mother, head of the household and glue of the family.
Yup, there isn't much that happens in this film that's all that surprising. There aren't any particular plot twists, although I suppose the ending could be considered as such... but honestly, it's so easy to see coming that it loses whatever velocity it might have had.
Yet strangely, despite being predictable, the film is nevertheless an enjoyable piece of cinema. The pacing is excellent and the character interactions are vibrant and engaging. In fact, I was engrossed to the point that it concluded before I even had time to take note of the playback time. The plot, straight-forward as it may be, was actually enthralling in its simplistically brutal presentation.
...
and since it's your boy harveyblunts, I've gotta throw in a piece about Olivia Wilde. That woman is easily one of the most gorgeous alive today. Every flash of her eyes, every supple twitch of her lower lip, every strand of hair that drifts across the path of her devastatingly amazing face... yeah I lost my train of thought. She looks amaaaaazing in this film. If you are a heterosexual male, you owe it to yourself to see this movie. I don't want to give too much away, but let's just say that her breasts are absolutely perfect.
