Running to Canada.

Having just watched the film I said exactly the same thing.

My partners response to that was 'there's plenty of space in Canada to hide'. Which sort of makes sense.

I wonder what the extradition arrangement is between Canada and the US.

I know that a couple of years ago Australia would not extradition a US citizen back to the U.S. who was to face a murder trail in the U.S. unless their was a guarantee he would not face the death penalty. He wanted to return to 'clear his name'. The respective state agreed and he was then returned.

Super old and cliched script. Most likely sitting in an old filing cabinet, dusted off, tweaked and used. Fleeung to Canada is laughable. Canada will send any criminal back to US, especially for murder.
