Dumb, dumb, dumb George-Michael
I haven't posted since 2005, and I hate hating, but this film is unjustly rated. Though the trailer was pretty demonstrative of what to expect, I was still surprised by how unoriginal this film was. I can't believe it earns the scores that it does.
Story is self-contained and interesting enough, though it seems to borrow from a variety of the Coen brothers' films. The dialogue though was just laughable. The acting was acceptable or better, but they had so very little to work with that it just seemed to fall entirely flat. I gave so few *beep* and/or *beep* about any of these straight-from-the-mold characters (save Bana's), that I had little remaining patience for the *beep* cop with daddy issues sub-plot. And the pacing was so whack (not unlike this review), I found myself frequently moved. To the kitchen. To grab more beer. So many times. And there might have been an incredibly-relevant dream-fight scene with some Native-American chief in there at some point, but I can't be sure.
I understand that I was 42% drunk while watching and therefore likely missed out on some cinematographic metaphor or some *beep* but 42 IS the answer to everything, so I think my review is just. I learned that from a much better, yet lower-rated film. I think it was called The Land Before Time. Or The Hitcher. Or The Misdirect. I'm gonna' take a walk to remember.
