Bullet proof vest under jacket? What? -- SPOLIER

So I need to get this straight. Addison takes Officer Hanna's police jacket and shirt, puts her in the deer skin jacket he stole from the dude in the woods, and props her up with her back to the door. He does this so that if the fuzz bursts in, they will cap the person in the coat thinking it's the bad guy. Makes sense - Check. But get this - Addison takes off her jacket and shirt and leaves on her bullet proof vest! Think about how ridiculous this is. She is a perfect diversion for the cops and instead of taking the extra 14 seconds to pull the velcro tabs and remove the vest "oh, I'll just leave it on!" Dumb and a perfect example of this dumb movies massive plot holes.

I dont think this was a plot whole, he simply didnt have enough time. The Sheriff calls for back-up and goes right in. Addison didnt know how long it would take the sheriff to get to the house, so he had to act fast. To remove the life-proof jacket he would have to remove her handcuffs and make her take it off herself, which could take too long. He had to act fast, so he just put his jacket on her, to give him a small advantage. I thought there were a few plotholes in this movie, but this one certainly wasnt one of them.

Maybe he just didn't want Hanna to die. He insisted she come in the house, and he would have had to select her to put in in jacket, thus picking her to be shot. It's one thing to kill out of what may feel like self defense or necessity, but without the vest it might feel like an executioner. When I saw the vest, I thought it to be there deliberately.

Really though, wouldn't the sheriff have definitely waited for backup? Without waiting it would have only served would be to help catch his killer.

I agree with the opinion above me. I think that Addison didnt really wanted to kill anyone but he only wanted to confused the sheriff with the jacket to just save a little time.
If he wanted he would kill the whole family but that wasnt his purpose. He just wanted to get her sister and leave the borders.
