What's up with Hanah?

Mara did a fine acting job but I just don't understand why the sheriff's were so mean and rude. Her role on movie seemed out of sorts, it's like they just threw her story in the mix. Could have done without her character. Movie was pretty good other than that.

I think there were a number of undeveloped Easter eggs that were dropped into the script.

For example, what is the significance of Chet being the former Sherriff? They never tied this to anything in the script.

The scriptwriter was obviously trying to illustrate the challenges of a female in a traditionally male occupation in rural America. He overdid it with the ill-treatment though; subtlety would've helped make it more convincing and less eye-rolling.

Typical Hollywood use of sledgehammer to drive home a "point". The male cops were such laughable douchebag incompetents sexist caricatures, it wasn't believable.
