I don't want to spam here or anything but I would love Fuqua to exhaust all of his options for Tupac, and I think no one is more ready to play the legendary rapper than NY based actor Alfred E. Rutherford. He was the lead actor in my feature film Pro-Black Sheep.
While filming the micro-budgeted film, we were constantly interrupted by people who felt the need to let him know that he looks just like Tupac. One person even thought we were filming some kind of bio pic of the rapper. And to top it off, he's a dedicated, talented actor. Just check out the trailer on our IMDB profile to see what I mean:
I totally agree with Junebugpresents about Alfred E. Rutherford being the Top candidate to play the role of Tupac.I am apart of the New York film Community and from the moment that i first saw him i thought that this guy should play Tupac in a film.In the indiependent film scene he is one of the top if not the top leading actor(Looks like all the films he has lead has won awards at film festivals) so what that should show Mr. Fuqua and the people at Morgan Creek is here you have a guy who is trained, has Charisma and the passion of a Tupac, has the experience to lead films in fact i just saw him on HBO in a short film entitled "Popous Pane and the kids he loves to hate" this morning. I know people who know this actor personally and rumor has it that not only he looks like Tupac but i have heard from good sources that he has Tupac interviews and mannerisms down to a science and can rap every tupac lyric, if this is the case i think that Junebugpresents is correct,I too can't imagine any Filmmaker not having Alfred E. rutherford as the Top candidate to play Tupac in this New Film. I have always appreciated Antonie Fuqua's style of directing and it was refreshing to hear him say he is looking for a fresh face.I hope he has heard about this kid because I believe that he is the one. let's all stay tuned. P.S. Junebugpresents i saw your film pro Black sheep staring Alfred E. Rutherford at BAM and he did a great Job and i really enjoyed the film and also congratulations on that film winning Best feature on matters relating to the Black experience/marginalized people at the Black International Cinema Berlin 2010 festival.
as much as he looks like pac theres another guy named Darrius Love who looks more like him then alfred who i really think could get the part, but wouldnt want Darrius Love to be overlooked . he was in janky productions. check him out on imdb
I haven't seen anybody and i mean anybody that looks closer to Tupac than Alfred E. Rutherford (and i'm being objective). I think Mr Darrius Love looks alot like Kobe Byrant.
I don't understand this.....Alfred Rutherford looks more like Jojo from K-ci & Jojo then Pac....see you guys will mess this movie up if it were up to individuals like ya'll.
Jojo???? Now your just spaming on here!!! I'm really waiting for this whole thing to begin because i feel that competition is healthy so I would love to see who you think is better than this kid go head to head for this role and let the people who are charge make there decision. This is exciting and there hasn't been this much buzz around a Black film in a minute. Who ever gets this role has their work cut out for them that's for sure but my Money is still on Alfred E. Rutherford.
It's more than just looks. Darris Love has been dedicated to playing the role of PAC for the last 5+ years. He has the complete package and even Leila Steinberg (Pac's 1st manager/mentor) even co-signed and quoted Darris being the closest person to resurrecting the spirit of Tupac since his death. He not only looks like Pac, but thinks and moves like Tupac that it's scary.
