Shooting has started, Benny Boom director of SWAT:Firefight directs

The movie is currently being filmed: http://hiphopdx.com/news/id.36709/title.role-of-tupac-cast-for-all-eyez-on-me-biopic

It will be called ALL EYEZ ON ME and directed by Benny Boom who did the not so great Next Day Air and the straight to dvd sequel to SWAT that no one saw or even knew was made.

They are rushing the filming of the movie because they were told that if they don't start filming this year they will lose the rights to use Tupac's music, so they quickly hired a guy who never acted before called Demetrius Shipp to play Tupac.

And they got Jamal Woolard who played Biggie in the NOTORIOUS movie to reprise his role as Biggie in this one, probably because he didn't need much preperation as he's played him before and stuff.

So yeah I don't think it's gonna end up being all that great, John Singleton left the movie because they wanted to rush the movie even when he was attached which he said would make it look like the Aaliyah movie that everyone hated and that was with John on board, you can imagine what it's gonna be like with Benny Boom directing with no real credit to his name.

BUT I hope they will prove me wrong, but directing a movie about Tupac is a BIG deal.

One could argue that Jamal didn't have much acting experience when he did NOTORIOUS and that ended up fine BUT to that I say, Biggie was a pretty laid back dude where as Tupac is a far more complex character he was wild but still intelligent, he was a thug but still a leader borderline politician when he wanted to, he was both caring and at times arrogant and fierce to his enemies.

There are so many layers to his character that I don't think that a rookie can portray him accurately, a professional actor would struggle even...

I can see your concern for this. I was skeptical myself. I've been an extra for four days on set now. managed to get the vibe of the production in the days I worked. I think Benny is doing a great job so far. they are currently rushing shooting for different reasons I've heard, they just wrapped last night for the break and will continue in jan. I've seen dem act a bit and I personally think he's doing pac justice. this is just my opinion but for someone who's first movie is this, he's carrying himself just fine and will not disappoint. the set has been really fun to be part of. actually crazy to him walk and talk like tupac, got his mannerisms down. the stakes were definitely high but I think it will be delivered. and afeni is around to assure this story lives up to his name. can't give much more information except my own opinion on how it's going. I wouldn't worry.

That notorious movie was crap and the guy who played him didn't even sound like biggie. If he has a big role In this movie it could ruin the whole thing. If it's as rushed as you say it could tank hard. These bio pics can't be rushed.

I very skeptical of this!! There only a few close people to Tupac involved in this, and there shooting while still casting. That's weird. They are rushing so they can hold the rights to the movie. This is a cash and grab, they have no intentions of making a solid movie. This is business.

Yes you are right. Some of the Outlawz are involved. They don't seem to care either for his legacy and are cashing in...

Speaking on tot he Outlawz, is it me, or do i find it weird and "cheap" that the Outlawz are in it but playing THEMSELVES? It's like, y'all in your 40s now, this is supposed to be based in the 90s... They don't even look how they was before so why?
