My concerns based on infos + BTS clips

It looks cheap and rushed a little. They had less than a month to do filming otherwise the rights go back to the mom, then a week later they started principal photography already? Idk. So far, I haven't seen Tupac's mom in none of the pics I saw. I do remember, they was suing her for the music rights so idk if she supports it or not.

Singleton said they wasn't respecting Pac's legacy and that's why he quit, but according to Lt Hutton, Singleton was fired and was mad of the creative differences and was hating on them. Something had to happen between them cuz Singleton was one of the closest people to Pac and understand he wanted to do right by Pac but Hutton basically calling him a liar...

How come we barely heard any casting call info? A movie about Tupac would've been massive and known. SOC did it and it was known, even saw videos. It was a big casting call marketing. How come they chosed the same actor who played Biggie 8 years ago instead of choosing a different one so it wouldn't be confusing that both movies are not connected?

AND why is some of the members of the Outlawz group playing themselves from their younger years? *beep* y'all doing that's going to be weird. I'm not hating or being a hater it's just certain things I'm seeing on the BTS pics just look weird and concerning. Again, not being a hater. I want this movie to be good as Straight outta Compton and hopefully it exceeds my expectations...

I thought the same thing regarding Noble & EDI playing their younger selves, that is going to just look really odd in the film. I guess they know more than anyone what really went down back then though so I'm glad they're involved and on board with the project.
I've just got a really bad feeling that this film isn't going to get the exposure it deserves and might flop and like you say, a film about the life of Tupac Shakur deserves to be a success, it is a story that should translate to a great movie.

reply

I understand that they want to be involved and help out but you can still be a consultant and help out behind the scenes instead of BEING in there. I heard Money B from Digital Underground was playing himself too. It's just going to be weird. That's just like if Cube and Dre decided to play themselves in Straight Outta Compton because they wanted to be involved and help... with half of NWA old and other half young like a father-son project.

Part of me feels like it's not going to be a flop but idk. People love Tupac tho... A lot of people already saying it's going to be better than SOC just from the pics.... ok w/e. Why? Cuz based on the pics they're "covering" everything? I feel like they're trying to force so much stuff in the film. They can't anyway, that's impossible, especially for Benny Boom, first time director. This movie runtime at least going to be between 2-2/12 hrs. I'm having a feeling this going to be a paint by number biopic, with all these celebrity extras on there (seriously, why is Da Brat, Queen Latifah, Madonna and others I didn't mentioned in the film?). What made SOC great was the fact that, yes, it didn't cover "EVERYTHING"and embellished certain things for entertainment purposes, but it cover major important events and showed you why was the one of the most important, rap group hip hop and how did they music impact society. Idk, that's just me. I'm still going to see it and hope it do well like SOC and less like Notorious.

"Although they state that the Budget is 40 mil. I wonder where the $$$$ is going because it does look cheap and rushed. I find it weird for a Production Company to sue the Mother of the Son (Tupac) they are doing a BIO pic about...But this is greedy Hollywood and they want to cash in on Tupac's Name & Legacy."

"John Singleton and PAC were not friends before he died. Once again no one is being sincere or really cares about the SUBJECT at HAND: TUPAC. Everyman is for himself. John wanted to do the film to get his name back out there. Tupac was mad at him because he sided with the Movie Studios by firing him from the movie "Higher Learning" and stealing his ideas and when TUPAC asked John to write a letter to a Judge at the time to explain Tupac's character, John would not do it."

"Once again rushed project and name dropping. They are hyping the film up as if it is something great...making history and its going to be garbage. They are not going to show us PAC'S life, they are going to string together a bunch of events that everyone knows about and put it together as a movie. They probably won't show us anything new. They are trying to be slick and outsmart the Public. If I am wrong, I will be the first to admit."

"NOT very smart casting on the Producers part, once again things thrown together. If its garbage, I hope it doesn't get released. Let someone who really cares about PAC do his MOVIE."

The PC is Morgan Creek Production, which if you go on their filmography, they ain't had one hit in a decade. And some said they saw Afreni on set pics, I swear to god, I've seen pics since they first posted them and I ain't see his mom nowhere. The only "parent" I saw was the director, Benny Boom, dad and family, Daz (Dogg Pound) since his son is playing him out of nowhere and plus he played in that DGP film they was doing, and Snoop's dad. Oh, she a executive producer as well. That mean nothing. Of course they're going to put her name on it, especially after suing her for the rights and wants people to "think" she supporting. But I digress.

-Oh wow. Thanks for that clarification.

You hit the nail with this one. I feel like they're trying to force stuff into the film and not to mention adding too many extras on here. Why is Da Brat and Queen Latifah in this film? I know him and Madonna had a thing, but wasn't that a short fling? She ain't THAT important. Just stick with him and Kidada relationship. I swear, if I see an Aaliyah on here too.... Also, the guy that playing Pac never had many acting experience (probably picked cuz his family knew Pac), and had 4 wk acting training. 4 wks? GTFOH. What's that? O'shea Jackson Jr, who never acted in life, spent at least 2 years to prepare for Cube's (his DAD) role... C'mon. If I'm wrong about this film, I will admit as well.

"NOT very smart casting on the Producers part, once again things thrown together. If its garbage, I hope it doesn't get released. Let someone who really cares about PAC do his MOVIE."

That's not only smart, that's just some uncaring, lazy stuff right there. Consultants help out BTS and give them ideas, not help out by being in it. They're going to still release it, Sept/Nov. even if it's trash. I think this just going to be just some average, paint by number, long ass music video but I'm still going to see it, regardless.

reply

Since I am a Huge Fan of Tupac's, my Spirit won't allow me to see the movie if it is Garbage (if that makes any sense). I am a sensitive and emotional person and I just don't want to get upset about this. Please when you see it, give us a review on the (IMDb). You don't have to provide "spoilers" but please rate it. I thought it was "creepy" for them to release it around the Anniversary of his Death (yuck). So when they pushed it back to November, I was like: That's a little better. I still think its just to cash in on his Name & Legacy. They know they will make money regardless because there are so many Tupac admirers out here.

Ard, I will. These other "fans" might be me to it, I'll try but I'm going on the first weekend like SOC, even though that was tough since tickets was sold all over that weekend but hey I'm paying mines in advanced. Maybe the trailer might change your mind, so hopefully by the end of the year, you'll face the fear...

BTW, word of advice, just make sure you wound up going, make sure your expectations are not high bcuz I'm always told, keep your expectations to a minimum low cuz the more high and hype you are, watch the film, and it doesn't reach that expectations, you'll hate it, trust me, it happened and I took they word for it.

reply

Thank you! You are right, we have up until November before it gets released. Anything can happen between now and then. Do you know if a lot of people are waiting to see "All Eyez on Me"? It doesn't seem to be getting a lot of buzz. Maybe I am wrong?

Well, they're still filming. So far from the comments on IG, people are excited. There's not going to be buzz yet probably til the trailer but at least it should be knowledged. That's what I was saying about the casting call auditions, we never heard any thing til they popped up with BTS clips and I saw some casting call for extras.

It's like they didn't do any and was picking by hand. Like I said before, with a Tupac film, it would've been all over with casting search all over. In Dec, they was fighting for music rights and we ain't here no other news but that, now they filming and already picked an actor for Tupac? I told u, that guy said Tupac was a "family friend", I bet you it was close "nepotism" with that. They said he only did 4 wk acting training too. SOC didn't do that. We new about the castings with pics, videos at the auditions... They really did ALOT and it was tough. I don't think they did that much for this movie... Here's different IG sites on the BTS pics and videos to stay updated:

I don't disagree with this but, they did make up in the end. John called Tupac to tell him he was writing Baby Boy specifically for him and that it would be the movie that would win him (Tupac) an oscar and Pac said he was down to do anything John wanted.

reply

Its good to hear that John and Tupac did make up before he died.

If it helps, the actors seem very serious about the movie. Here's an interview from one of them, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUpVaKAHjns.

reply

Lol, anybody can be serious for a role, especially their first acting debut, sometimes it translates well on screen and sometimes they don't. But I'm not trying to troll or hate, I really do want it to be good. I just want it done right and done right by Pac, especially if people been waiting for a Pac movie since the damn Underground Railroad...

reply

Well this seems to be the intention, based on Dominic L. Santana's(Suge Knight) interview. He claims the movie actually wasn't just a thrown together celebrity profile, and it covers deeper ground. I know the process looks fishy because of how much is getting done in such a short amount of time, but who knows, the timing could just be a sign of the filmmakers striking magic more than anything, and they're now persisting faster, since they've finally pieced everything together after four years.

reply

Yea, I understand that's their intention. Anybody's intention is to make a good film no matter. and of course he's going to say what people especially Pac fans/stans wanna hear but we'll see. I'm not a pac stan but I still like him enough to get a good movie.
