Can we talk about the budget

The budget is $45 Mil

Huh? The logo looks very cheap in the teaser trailer and promo pics. The actors are not highly successful top billed actors (Danai G, Kat G, Lauren C, Hill Harper etc.) no actor salary in this film is $1 mil I know that for a fact. So...why is the budget $45 mil? I have not seen any mass marketing associated with this film only social media and other internet websites.

reply

Unless they are using the budget for post production (prints of the film & advertising & marketing), I don't see where the 45 MIL is going either. They could be telling us a lie. Also obtaining the rights to Tupac's Music Catalog couldn't be that expensive either. I think they made the decision to shoot the majority of the film in Atlanta to cut down production costs. I sincerely hope that another logo/poster is made to represent this film.

I see that they also removed the original release of the film (November 11, 2016). This was an interesting date to begin with...It is the day Nat Turner was killed and Tupac wanted to do a movie about Nat Turner when he was alive.

Why do I have the feeling that they are going to shelf this film very quickly because I just know it is going to be awful. Its going to TANK!๎€›

The advertisement/marketing is non-existent I've only seen the teaser trailer on IMDb and other social media networks. I would like to know how this film has a budget of $45 mil? Straight Outta Compton budget was far less but was very successful. As far as music catalog rights the movie will only be using less than a handful of tracks. So....it really isn't much. I never expected much from this movie from the beginning I heard about the fallout with directors.

reply

Yeah. The fallout with Directors was insane. There was/is a spiritual omen over this film since the beginning of it. I mean don't they not get it! The film should have never been made unless they clearly had it together!?!? It was in "Development Hell" from 2011 - 2015, they went through Antoine Faqua, John Singleton, Carl Franklin and now Benny Boom. The actor Demetrius Shipp is much too young to play Tupac from 17 to 25 (I am assuming that these are the ages that he is playing Pac). Tupac had the mind of someone age 40 and beyond. This actor is not seasoned enough. I don't care how much acting training and how many videos he has viewed of Tupac, the acting and taking on Tupac's "spirit" must come from within and I don't see it. Its not there. I personally feel that this movie has one motivation...to tarnish the image of Tupac.๎€“

I truly believe this. I don't want to get off course with the supernatural stuff that has happened with other Pac affiliates. But, this film sucks! I saw the still images of the actor playing him as a 17 yr old it made me laugh. Everything looked tacky and cheap fake hair, knock off clothing items from the 90s, the groupies look like present day IG models, movie logo is hideous, the on set footage looked like it was runned unprofessionally like a big, frat party. Not excited at all.

That is very evident.

I know but the "Supernatural" stuff is quite powerful. WOW! You got me straight laughing about the production of this project...
1.Fake hair
2.Knock off clothes
3.Groupies looking like Models from Instagram
4.Hideous logo
SPELLS DISASTER TO ME.

I think about this and I don't know rather to laugh now and cry later. I knew this was going to happen. In the beginning of the production phase (back in December), I read a great article on-line. It comes from the website (www.designntrend.com, 12.22.2015). "Tupac Shakur Movie: 3 Reasons All Eyez on Me Biopic About Rapper Will Be A Massive Failure".

1.Inadequate writing
2.Small time actor, larger than life role
3.Muisc video director is helming it

LOOKS like everything the writer stated in this article is coming true.

Not to mention, Boom's track record is only like two films that's a low budget film Next Day Air (that's forgettable and not even great) and a corny straight to DVD sequel of an old movie SWAT... Now, that can change if this movie does turn out good (according to these celebrity press screening reactions) but something I'm looking forward to but not too amped up.

reply

Next Day Air was awful! It didn't help having Mos Def in the movie either it was plotless, try hard comedy. AEOM looks incomplete, rushed and messy! Are LT Hutton and crew expecting an Academy nom like Straight Outta Compton?Hahahaha

reply

Yea, they are especially since it's slated for November (award season) and having all these celebrity private screenings. Since the Academy are becoming MORE diverse now with over 600 new members I hope they don't just add it Oscar or Golden Globes just for guilt over the #oscarsowhite and the movie and cast dont be that good. It could be, we don't know, I just don't want them to pick any film with black cast because they feel like they have to over with last year of not nominating any black actors.

reply

The new Academy members list still would not give that sorry movie a nom. I checked out some of the names in the writing, directing, acting and music branches (Melvin Van Peebles, Ryan Coogler, Keenan Ivory Wayans, Loretta Divine, etc.) a lot of legendary talent and seasoned actors are the new members they know a good movie when they see one AEOM isn't it!
