I hate to say it...

But this movie started out with a LOT of promise. We went from Fuqua, to Singleton, to a guy who directs a handful of random straight-to-video releases. This could have been the next Straight Outta Compton, Fruitvale Station etc. But now it's getting a much, much, much different treatment. That's not to say it can't be good, cause you never know. Maybe the director see's an opportunity to challenge himself, and make something great. If that's the case, then I'm all for it. But a side from that, when you add the numbers up, it just looks incredibly concerning. However, I do hope I'm wrong. And if I am, I'll admit it, gladly.

"See's"?????

C'mon, that's it?

All the signs point to a flop and a bad movie...they are doing this all wrong....

relax bro. it's not the fact that singleton is out that makes this bad. that gives it a lot more potential to be objective and truthful.

the fact that its being directed by a hype williams clone is what makes this troubling. belly was one of the absolute worst "movies" i have ever sat through in my life which is laughable considering it can't even be considered a movie but rather an extra long music video. hopefully this guy "Benny Boom" doesn't take his cues from Hype Williams.

YES! I saw Belly! Tried to find something good in it. The lighting was okay and some of the music was fly. The ending with DMX and the Preacher was the best scene. But the things I mentioned are not strong enough to save Belly. I have to admit, it was All over the place. It is hard for a Music Video Director to become a Filmmaker but it is easy for a Filmmaker to become a Music Video Director.

Are you asking me? Yes. I went to Film School (Columbia College Chicago). I did two Live Action Film Shorts and I am currently during Research on two projects. I have been to Film Festivals, have met Celebrities, have had meetings but working in Hollywood is not for me. The Independent Route is better.
