A shame that it had to end that way, Singleton was Afeni approved and should have gotten the gig and made changes the way he saw fit, I mean who's shown more talent of directing movies? John Singleton with movies like Boyz N The Hood and Baby Boy or Benny Boom with movies like SWAT 2 and Next Day Air.

Yes. I agree. It would have been nice to see John Singleton make Tupac's movie "EPIC". When I first heard that John Singleton was going to do a movie called "TUPAC", the original name, I got excited. I would come to his message board from time to time and try to see the progress of the movie. It was always the same (pre-production) then it disappeared from his board. I was like "What happened to the Tupac movie?" I didn't start following news on it until Dec. 2015 when they began shooting. That's when I decided to read back articles on the project to see how they went from John Singleton to Benny Boom
I remember seeing an interview with Spike Lee regarding his film "Malcolm X". He stated that he would watch/study "David Lean" films because he wanted "Malcolm X" to have an "EPIC" feel to it. Watching "David Lean" films was a great choice! I immediately thought about how I took a class in film school studying "David Lean" films.
People have said that Benny Boom is a great Music Video Director. As I have said before...It is easy for a Filmmaker to direct Music Videos but it is harder for a Music Video Director to become a Filmmaker. Filmmaking requires you to know the craft and it is hard work
