They focused more on biggie the Rapper and not Biggie as a person, Faith Evans had more interesting details in her book than the whole Film did. That's what you get when you leave puffy in charge. He only knew biggie from a Business perspective .
I'm Blade brown, the Dopest, ,hypest brotha, on the block!
TRUE THAT! Regarding Tupac, there are DOCS, BOOKS, VIDEOS, INTERVIEWS done about Tupac as a person that they can take great information from but they seem to have OPTED to take the easy route. I don't remember this YouTube video but they were interviewing one of the Producers from Morgan Creek about the Tupac Movie...The first thing that came out of his mouth was presenting Tupac as a Gangster Rapper. BOY! He turned off so many people! The comment section was lit up about this. TUPAC ADMIRERS were not FEELING this at all.
Then there were another group of people on a Show. ALL of them were hoping to see the East Coast/West Coast Rap War in the TUPAC MOVIE. I was like WTF! That shyt wasn't even real. The MEDIA created that garbage around PAC & BIG "only" to sell records.
SO...YOU are right! This may be similar OR close to the BIGGIE FILM. If this is the CASE, they are going to DISAPPOINT a LOT of PEOPLE! To be continued...
I dunno. Its hard to believe Rapper THE GAME because instead of just speaking on AEOM with its own MERIT, he had to quickly compare it to NOTORIOUS. I have a problem when people put films against each other. Was it GOOD or BAD?
You had DIDDY saying it was good (RED FLAG)...I don't think TUPAC even got along with that SNAKE! He just tolerated him. If they had an HONEST screening amongst regular folk then the CRITIQUE would hold some WEIGHT.
And that was at best a Jamaican STATE PROPERTY or maybe BELLY.
And yeah Diddy did say that the portrayal of Tupac was honest or something, but then I don't think Diddy and Pac were ever that close. And I think chances are he could just been happy that they didn't point the fingers at Bad Boy for killing him (which I asume they didn't do).
I kinda suspected that this would be more like Notorious than it would be like Straight Outta Compton the moment they went from having John Singleton to a D List Director named Benny Boom. Like WTF. Why didn't you get The Hughes Brothers?
Tupac had his squad stomp the sh!t out of one of the Hughes Brothers after he didn't get a role in Menace II Society, and will probably be in the movie as well.
I do agree that they sold themselves short with Benny Boom though, I'm not saying he doesn't have talent he just haven't showcased it yet. Ernest Dickerson would be my second pick after Singleton, or maybe Vondie Curtis Hall.
And I actually prefer Notorious slightly over S.O.C.
Yeah I know about them firing 2Pac from Menace II Society but that happened in 1992, I'm pretty sure they made up before he passed because I think Pac did an interview in 1995 where he apologized to the Hughes Brothers and Quincy Jones.
Ahh I was unaware of an apology being made. I just thought it would be hard for them to tell a subjective story after an experience like that with him but maybe that would have been possible then.
Yes. This is true. Tupac was being interviewed by Kevin Powell in Jail for Vibe Magazine when he wanted to apologize to The Hughes Bros. for the fight and Quincy Jones for making bad comments about him being with White woman. The ironic thing is that he was still mad at John Singleton for taking his ideas and writing Higher Learning and choosing another Actor instead of standing up for him when he was going through stuff.
Ernest Dickerson who gave Tupac a chance when no other Black Director would is a great choice. The Hughes Bros. would have been great too! Over the years they have said some wonderful things about Tupac.
