Straight Outta Compton was good. Much better than Notorious. The only problem with a 2pac story is the fact that it remains unsolved. Would anyone be ballsy enough to fictionalize a series based on actual events though? Tupac and Biggie is a really good documentary on the murders. But in the end that's just hype. Death is death. I find it hard to believe that a black male who isn't famous can get gunned down and police find the shooter within ten hours. But, a rising icon is gunned down in cold blood and no one seems to have a clue?

Back in the 90's most cops were raised by a generation that lived through the civil rights movement. So anyone that was raised by parents or grandparents, aunt, uncle, that opposed desegregation, well those feelings of hatred will be passed down. Today police have to think twice about shooting a person of color. But, in the 90's? I don't think they'd have the slightest hesitation.

I know that's what this film is about. I was saying that a film about the circumstances of his death would probably be more intriguing. I wasn't referring to a non-fiction film. I was giving ideas for a fictional Shakespearian inspired film.

From what I've seen in the trailer it looks like a very plausible scenario. I don't see any need for the conspiracy. Tupac and his entourage beat on a guy, his friends retaliate. But why all the nonsense of a cold case? Unless this was a decoy. Some cover up. Sort of like Jesse James Hollywood. Asked a friend who was in debt to Hollywood to kill someone to clear his debt. Who then would've made the call? And why was Tupac a target? I've seen every season of The Wire. Probably the most authentic crime drama ever made. Sure, it isn't over the top and theatrical but most things aren't. From what I gathered in interviews, soundbites, and lyrics. I could see how he might be a threat. Sometimes when I read lyrics to hit 'em up. I find them to be snitch like. Or I could see how one would interpret them as such. But before the media fueled "rap war" Pac didn't rap about that stuff. He rapped about the culture. Never mentioned selling crack unlike Biggie who boasted about his crimes. And if Biggie was in the game. He couldn't possibly get out of it.

I doubt it. Having worked in criminal homicide for 25 years, I've come to realize that unsolved cases are not as dramatic as people make them seem. Usually the crime is solved the problem is getting witness testimonies and statements. Delays, appeals, law suits, intimidation, etc.

Take a look at movie like Mystic River. The scene is painted like a homicide but in the end it's accidental firearm discharge. Or even like season 5 of the wire. Spoilers if you ain't seen it. When Omar is killed. Omar sees Kenard walk in, but seeing just a little boy, pays no attention to him. Kenard shoots Omar in the side of the head, killing him. This brings closure to some of the foreshadowing in Season 3, as Kenard was the young boy Bunk witnessed imitating Omar at the Barksdale stash house shootout. He kills Omar but there's no motive behind it. He's just doing what he sees on a daily basis. Clearly he has no ties to criminal organization.
