Shoulda gotten Chris Evans

Or at least i am curious how he would have done considering how he did in Snowpiercer & Sunshine.

Hmm. Chris Evans seems like an interesting choice for Hugh Glass now that you mentioned him.

But no hairpieces. Chris' natural receding hairline would sell the character even better, i think. He is such a good actor that he knows how to make you forget he is a good looking fellow, when he wants you to.

I agree that Chris is a good actor. An underrated one at that. And yes, he's one of those actors who doesn't seem to rely on his good looks in order to pull off good performances. It's talent, dedication, and passion.

Btw, no hairpieces? I thought Leo actually grew his hair for this movie.

I wasn't clear. Yes, that is Leo's hair. I was referring to Chris' hairline. His receding hairlibe coukd be played well in a character like Glass. OT, i just to wonder if Leo cstarted chainsmoking to gruff up his old teen idol look in order be be taken more seriously as an emotive actor.

Oh okay. I was going to say that there were pictures of Leo when he was on break from filming this movie and his hair and beard were rather long.

I kind of agree that Chris's receding hairline probably could've played well into a character like Hugh Glass. Glass was in his early forties when his animal attack and journey happened. Leo was like 39 and 40 when he shot this film. Kind of already close to the real man's age range. Chris is perhaps 34 or 35(he was born in the early 1980s) and probably could've pulled off the performance.

As for the OT question, that's interesting to wonder. Though, from what I remember from William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet and Titanic, he's been smoking for years. Though, I think he vapes now in possibly trying to quit smoking bit by bit. Yet, I do believe that he doesn't strictly want to be the teen idol pretty face and wants to be taken seriously as an actor. And he is a great actor, but he also happens to be cute. Btw, Chris smokes, too, believe it or not. I think it's to calm his nerves because what a lot of people don't know is that he suffers from anxiety(or at least something similar). One person said that before the Captain America: Civil War premiere, he was seen having a quick smoke because he was a little stressed and nervous about the public event.

I agree. Chris would have been a great choice for the part.

Speaking of hair, i remember in the 90s how much actors used their locks to define their character & what they are feeling. A lot of hair strewn over their faces. Leo seemed to do it a lot back then. This is the first film of his in awhile that i remember him letting his hair doing some of the acting for him. That's not a swipe at him, just an observation.

Wow. Good observation, leyenda.

I'm pretty sure it was Ralph Fiennes in Sunshine, but that was 16 years ago so my memory may not serve me correctly

She's talking about the one that was released in 2008 starring Cillian Murphy, Rose Byrne, and Chris Evans.

Yeah. Chris is a criminally underrated actor.

reply

Agreed. I like that he takes rikss.Brad Pitt did a 180 with his choice in roles but nearly all of his films since Fight Club had been headache-inducing joyless pseudo-artsy crap that no one wants to see.

No intended offensr at Leo, but I've had difficulty believing his portrayal as a father when his character is one. Ex: Revenent, Shutter Island. I can't remember him being a dad in any of his other movies.
