Confused by the ending
Why did the Pawnee kill Fitzgerald?
Reality is Nothing - Perception is Everything!
Why did the Pawnee kill Fitzgerald?

Dunno, gonna have to watch it a couple more times.
Maybe cause they are locked into cycles of revenge killings ?
I had to crash the Honda....
They probably could just 'feel' that he was a self centered, psychotic, soulless bastard. Plus they knew Glass helped the girl escape, so they helped him in return. Fitzgerald bitched and complained more than the Indian girl held captive, beaten & raped. Through the whole movie I just wanted to beat the ever loving crap out of Fitzgerald, good acting on Hardy's part to be such a horrible character.
shareFirstly, Glass had saved the chief's daughter, Powaqa, from capture and she was with the Pawnee so would have recognised that Glass was her rescuer. Honour would dictate that the chief owed Glass.
Secondly, Glass pushed Fitzgerald's body into the river so that it floated towards the Pawnee chief. This could be interpreted as a request that the Pawnee finish him off, i.e. a request that the chief pay what he 'owes' Glass.
Thirdly, Fitzgerald shot the chief during the initial attack at the start of the film, knocking him off his horse. Fitzgerald then kicked the chief in the head as he struggled to get up. Again, Glass sending Fitzgerald to the chief via the river could be interpreted as Glass making an honour-based 'gift' of Fitzgerald to the chief, as if to say, "Here he is, do with him what you will."
First off they're not Pawnee. Glass's wife and son and the guy who saves Glass and is hung were Pawnee. The tribe that tracked the party and killed Fitzgerald were Arikara (or Rhee)
But to answer...
1. Fitzgerald shot at and beat up the chief in the initial attack.
2. Fitzgerald has been scalped, clearly they do not see him as an "honorable" man.
3. Glass saved his daughter. Honor dictates they "owe" him.
4. They have seen the entire fight and watched as Glass sent Fitzgerald to them, signaling "this is how you can repay me"
5. They're tough mean basterds who can't stand that white men are taking their land, why not kill him?
I think you're the opposite of paranoid, I think you walk around with the delusion people like you.
