Why didn't that Indian cook it?

With three fires he had going, why wasn't that Indian even attempting to cook some of that buffalo meat rather than just eating it raw like that?

Not this again...

Too hungry and weak maybe? Who knows!

The movie is loaded with symbolism. It's a very thoughtful movie and is much better enjoyed if you can do it on another level.

Just google "the Revenant symbolism" and watch it again. Your mind will be blown.

I read somewhere that that's how Native Americans would eat it most of the time. It's contains nutrients necessary for regaining strength.

No wonder those people have no Cuisine.

Well, it's their way of life and their beliefs.

Those damn Sioux took his Coleman stove, that's why. Punky wood fire could ruin the meat's flavor. He's a true gourmet.

Good point. Maybe he was starving.

They were eating the internal organs, no much need to cook them because they are soft, especially the brain could be eaten raw. The muscles and other parts of the body have to be cooked because they can't be digested.

Besides, it was just the first quick meal to fill the belly because they were starving, after that of course they cooked some meat.
