Propaganda for arming moderate Syrian rebels?

In that scene, where Fitzgerald says, "a savage is a savage", and the Captain says, "The pawnee are against the Ree as much as the rest of us", I could not help but notice the message that this film was sending.

Whenever there is an Islamic terrorist attack, we hear in the news that "real Muslims" are against Islamofascists, and that Muslims are the primary victims of terrorist attacks because there will be a wave of Islamophobia.

I also remember back in 2013, when the US government thought it was a great idea to give "moderate" Syrian rebels weapons to fight Assad and "spread democracy", and I was thinking it would lead to a terrorist state. The US is still arming the "moderates" because they are "just as much against ISIS as the rest of us".

So yeah. The Arikara Indians seemed to be proxies of the French, just like Assad is a proxy of the Russians. Maybe the movie was saying that the white Americans needed to team up with the nice Indians against other white people, like the French, but prejudice mean guys like Fitzgerald prevented that from happening. Also, the Ree would not have been so bad if it wasn't for the white French making them behave like they did, by selling them guns in encouragement for stealing pelts.

So I could see this film being used to support the Obama-era state department on handling the Syrian disaster.

Any thoughts?
