Cinderella could have just played along with what Step-Mom's offer in being head of household to the palace, and once Cinderella got married to the prince, she could have said "buh-bye"
shareyeah she could have and it's probably what i would have done to be honest, but i think it was a way to give cinderella a backbone since so many people seem to think she doesn't have one.
shareI was also annoyed with Cinderella after she acts all shocked with her Step Mom breaking the glass slipper & locked her in the attic, after she refused to help out her old Step Mom out! I also wondered what became of the Step Mom, Step Sisters? The ending said that they were no longer to set foot in the kingdom, but what doe that mean?

shareWell Ella's just not that sort of person. She wouldn't choose a happy ending at the expense of effing someone else over. If she did that, then it would be tainted. Her happy ending is remaining a good person in spite of the hardships she had suffered - and before Kit arrives, this is exactly how she is. She made peace with herself that she may not see him again but she would still have the memories.
I'd say that Ella would probably arrange for a modest home for them to move to. She did say that she forgave her stepfamily. And that really would be the ultimate punishment for her stepmother - to live the rest of her life dependant on the kindness of the stepdaughter she could not break.
