It looks like it's going to be glorious! 

It does 

But I have to confess I'm still quite nervous about it, as Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite (if not my favorite) Disney films, so I really hope they don't screw it up *coughmaleficentcough*

This is one that I (and a lot of people) will be really outraged over if they don't do it justice, I was forgiving about them messing up Sleeping Beauty....I WON'T be so forgiving if they *bleep* up Beauty and the Beast.

Hopefully it will be awsome.

Wow, are we the same person? Like you, I'm also obsessed with both Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast. While I've come to accept Maleficent on it's own terms, I'll never be able to adore it the way I do Sleeping Beauty or stop thinking about what could have been; I mean, can you imagine if we had gotten a live-action fairy tale world completely inspired by Eyvind Earle's artwork? Now that would have been amazing! But I digress. I'm not really worried at all about Beauty and the Beast, though, as I think it's going to be worthy of the original animated classic. The set design, music, CGI- what we've seen and heard of it so far honestly has exceeded my expectations, I don't see how I could possibly be let down. I can hardly wait till Disney gives us more!

Oh I could write an entire essay on all the ways I feel Disney screwed up with 'Maleficent', you mention 'what could have been ' -yeah that's what frustrates me the most as they had a chance to bring to life one of the greatest action sequences in Disney history (Phillips battle with Dragon Maleficent) and they totally dropped the ball.

I don't know what Disney was thinking, but they blew the chance of a lifetime...it could have been stunning to see if they had remained faithful to the animated film, but instead it was just a huge disappointment.

But I hope your right about Beauty and the Beast, I've got my fingers crossed...but my expectations are very high for this one (much higher then Cinderella).

Yes, I will always have resentment towards Robert Stromberg and the film-makers of Maleficent because they "blew the chance of a lifetime", as you said. Sleeping Beauty is one of my most cherished films of all-time but the creators of Maleficent threw everything out the window; the story, characters, costumes, production design- everything is just so different! The world that Eyvind Earle and the Disney animators created was too perfect to just be disregarded the way it was. I could go on and on... and on and on, some more... but I'll stop my whining now. 

As for Beauty and the Beast, I'm all but convinced that Disney is going to get it right. The teaser showed us a world/atmosphere that is very much in step with what we know and love about the original animated classic. And that music- oh, I could melt! I think we're going to be very happy come March 2017...

It's not a good excuse but inthink they changed with Maleficent because they didn't find the right young actors to carrybthe film, sorry but elle fanning and the guy they chose for Philip were bland.

So they had no other choice than making Maleficent (Angelina Jolie) the lead but even though they screwed Sleeping beauty they made a great job with Cinderella with a good casting especially the young couple.

My biggest fear with beauty and beast is the singing, the ones are almost opera level. Especially the introduction song at the town market and be our guest is one of the hardest songs to get right.
Other than that im happy with Emma Watson as Belle she is pretty enough to play her and Dan Stevens is very attractive, tehir challenge will be the chemistry and making a great dance scene that could surpass what they did here for Cinderella.

When I first watched the film i liked it but was slightly dissapointed because the hype was really huge but the more i think about it the more i like it, they didn't over think it to make something original and they just follow the cartoon version with a few small changes and the chemistry between Lily James and Richard Madden was perfect.

I think they will follow the story of the cartoon very much. I don't think they will ever repeat the Maleficent mistake now another reason on why they thought Maleficent was a good idea it might be because of frozen which succedded on making it a story about love between sisters than a romantic love so they thought hey now lets go for motherly love now that we sicceded with sisterhood love which was obviously a huge mistake.

Ehh I don't buy that...the real heroes in Sleeping Beauty are not Aurora or Phillip, the real heroes are the three good fairies. Those three adorable little old ladies LOL

If you really think about it, Aurora and Phillip are more the backdrop for the conflict between Maleficent and the Three Fairies (Phillip would never even have escaped Maleficents clutches if it weren't for them). So I don't buy that they had no choice but to make Maleficent the hero...they already had three heros right in front of them, all of them strong women!

But I guess little old ladies aren't sexy enough to be heroes in their eyes 

Maleficent is one of the most bad*** villians of all time, the "mistress of all evil" and it makes my blood boil to see how they butchered her character.

But that's just my opinion, they have begun to redeem themselves with Cinderella, hopefully Beauty and the Beast will finally wash away the aftertaste left by the disaster that was 'Maleficent'

You make a very good point niether in sleeping beauty Aurora and Philip are the leads.

But its sadly true, those old chraming fairies weren't sexy enough to be the leads and they went to make Maleficent the lead and tunred her into the hero.

The Maleficent flick was a huge mistake but since its just a spinoff maybe they will try to do sleeping beauty the right way one day and go for new but very charming and attractive actors for philip and Aurora. Disney saw the light and they won't ever repeat the Maleficent nightmare.

They followed the mistake of Snowwhite and the huntsman by getting a hotter Maleficent than Aurora just like the evil queen( Charlize Theron) in Snow White and huntsman was hotter than Snowwhite ( Kristen Stewart) but here they fixed it by getting the stunning Lily James and Cate Blanchett who is very elegant and regal but never more beautiful than Lily James.

But the casting is not everything a good script and direction is really necessary and Mirror Mirror is the proof they got the right casting Lily Collins as Snowwhite who is incredibly stunning and Julia Roberts as the envious stepmother aand yet the film was a mess.

Cinderella is the very first fairytale in live action done the right way by Disney or not
