Cinderella or Ever After ?

which version do you like the best? Personally Ever After was my ultimate favorite, I felt with this version they didn't show much of the love between the prince and Cinderella. It was all very fast :(

reply

Ever After is my ultimate favorite, but I love this one too! I'll say Ever After only because it has been in my life since 1998! At this point, they are equal.

reply

I love Cinderella (1950), Ever After (1998) and Cinderella (2015) equally. I don't think neither are better than the other because they're three different films that stand on their own.

Yes, and I'd throw in ''The Slipper And The Rose'' (1976).

reply

Yes, that's a good film, too. I also love Rodger and Hammerstein's Cinderella (1997) and Good Times animated Cinderella (1996).

! Was thinking of it while watching this film. Love the look and score of that film.

George Lucas talking about: 'Hey, give it to me, I'll fix it. I'll make 20 more of them'

reply

Well said. I agree! :)

Let's not forget "The Glass Slipper" with Leslie Caron.

Hard to decide. I love Drew Barrymore's Cinderella, but I like this one a lot too. I think both, but for different reasons.

Cinderella (2015)

reply

Ever After because this movie directly takes elements from Ever After (I mean from the very first scenes on!), which is now a classic retelling of the original "cinder girl." This is a cool way to recapture this generation's attention. But Ever After for me.

reply

Ever After is not, by any means, a classic retelling of the original "cinder girl". It was a realistic re-imagining that took many liberties with the story. Ever After and Cinderella (2015) should never be compared because they're two different films. It's like comparing apples to oranges.

Also...

Ever After because this movie directly takes elements from Ever After.

Enlighten me.

Starting from the beginning scenes: the father bringing something home for her from a trip, introducing it in French, the way the stepmother and stepsisters are introduced and how he welcomes them from the carriage and the shot shows her long gown like it did Anjelica Huston's.

Not to mention later on when the prince repeats to the palace what he heard and liked from Ella: "Just because it's what's done doesn't mean it's what should be done.." Prince Henry repeated things he heard Danielle say to his parents.

A painter: Master Phineus in place of Leonardo Da Vinci...

The scene where the mother/stepsisters discuss Cinderella's dress. Stepmother: "After all that I've done..." and how she says they're rags and she can't possibly represent their noble lineage in them. SO reminiscent of Ever After.

The "agreement" between Stepmother and the well-off man (Grand Duke) after Stepmother locks Ella in her room.

Several scenes were almost like a remake of it. I'm not sure how anyone could miss it.

The new one is like an anthology of other Cinderella stories.

Thank you!!! I knew I couldn't be the only to notice that Disney lifted parts directly from 21st Century Fox's Cinderella movie!!

And let's not forget that Kit almost had the first dance with a Spanish princess while in Ever After Henry almost married a Spanish princess.

Ever After was better. This was good too, but I liked the realism of Ever After and I really liked the fact that the stepmother got her comeuppance. Not so much in this movie, though I suppose the forgiveness fits with the Cinderella be kind thing properly. Also liked the humor of Ever After.
