I love how this movie doesn't apologize for being so sappy & feminine!

Especially in a society full of people who roll their eyes at such things and want everything they see on tv or in movies to be 'dark' and 'gritty'. *beep* that. I like dark and gritty sometimes too but I can at least make room to like movies like this that are girly and sappy and have happy endings. And it doesn't apologize for it. It's like..."Yeah we're over the top with the glitter and the fantasy and the romance, so what? *beep* off."

Wish we had more movies like this.

I agree! We know this not trying to portray real life - it's a fairy tale. I'm not a fan of movies with swearing, excessive violence, and leaving nothing to the imagination. This is one the whole family can enjoy without cringing.

I agree as well. My go to genre is actually horror, but sometimes girly, sappy movies are just the right thing to watch. I was quite happy with this adaptation and I just loved the costumes.

I'm the same way. Horror movies are my favorite but I do love romantic comedies and period romance films from time to time. And yes the costumes were fantastic.

Same. I liked that it's romantic and feminine without apologizing for it. However, I wish Ella was more active at the end when she got locked away. Even in the animated film she is more active.

If you liked this, have you tried Sissi (a highly romanticized Austrian film on the life of empress Elizabeth of Austria)? In Europe, it comes in three parts of about two hours and it's a beautiful, sweet film. In the US it's called Sissi - Forever My Love I believe.

If Sissi were available in the FULL uncut version I would purchase it. I've only seen the version cut down to 140 minutes available. I don't even mind dubbed, just prefer to see ALL of it. Thanks for the info!
