Ella's move to the attic

Lady Tremaine "suggests" that Ella move to the attic "temporarily", while she redecorates. We, as the audience, know that Tremaine really intends for the move to be permanent. However, what was she planning to tell Ella's father?

She couldn't have known that he wouldn't return and therefore would never know the difference. (Unless it was an inside job and this movie is darker than we realize... Dun dun DUN! ;) ) Anyway, would she actually have allowed Ella to move back once he returned? Would she have made excuses until he traveled again? I have a hard time imagining he would have accepted any excuses with how much he loved his daughter and how dingy the attic was... What do you think?

Please don't feed the trolls.

I was wondering the same thing -- did she know something would happen to the father? She had no emotions where he was concerned. In fact, how could he even consent to marry her? She must have really put in a show to get him - all for his house and money. Yes, I think there was something darker going on.

Once jealousy kicked in, she stopped thinking straight. She probably either didn't think that far or planned to "coincidentally" finish the redecoration by the time he returned.
