Lady Tremaine lacks Pragmatism
She should know it'd take more than oppressing Ella to make Anastasia and Drizella attractive enough to potential husbands so she should have instead treated Ella like a real daughter and reap off the same benefits she'd expect from whateer guys married her daughters. The whole "you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar" thing. Also, oppressing Ella while her father was alive was too much of a risk that he'd do something and doing it after his death might discourage other rich guys from marrying Tremaine. She was more likely to get a third husband than Anastasia and Drizella to get first ones.
