Man was that dance scene awkward.

Is it just me who thinks so? I cringed so hard watching the prince and Cinders dance in the ballroom, it was just dreadful! Lily James would have been elegant if she hadn't been given such a jerky and weird dance to do, but Richard Madden bless him danced like he was made out of wood.

As for the dance itself, it was just standing to attention, shuffling awkwardly over to a different part of the dance floor, and then standing to attention again, and repeat. All with strange facial expressions and not really having enough room for her dress amongst the gathered crowd. I was expecting the iconic Disney waltz (i.e. Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, and re-imagined beautifully in Enchanted), not a Dancing With The Stars reject effort. They looked like two embarrassed kids at junior prom forced to slow dance against their will.

With Cinderella being a naturally graceful princess-type who is deliberately contrasted against her clumsy and ungainly stepsisters, and the Prince having assumedly been trained to dance as part of his 'monarch apprenticeship', it made no sense for them to be so bad at it.

The mirror... it's broken.
Yes, I know. I like it that way. Makes me look the way I feel.

I came to this message board (apparently in the nick of time) specifically to see if anyone else felt the same about the dancing. So it's really not just you or me! I am not even sure why it was so painful to watch but it wrecked the movie for me.

I thought it reminded me of The Sound Of Music
