Also do u know when the dvd's with scrappy will be available ?
I'm talking about the series only from the 1978 to 1988.

THE SCOOBY DOO SCRAPPY DOO SHOW
THE SCOOBY AND SCRAPPY DOO PUPPY HOUR
THE NEW SCOOBY AND SCRAPPY DOO SHOW
THE NEW SCOOBY DOO MYSTERIES

All these shows with scrappy are still unavailable in dvd. ANY NEWS ?

A lot of people didn't like Scrappy. He had a brief cameo in the mermaid episode but the gang promised to never speak of him again.
I think most of the episodes from the shows you mentioned are available as downloads on amazon.com and itunes and The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries were available on one of the hulu-type websites, I don't know if they still are.
I think they're holding off on releasing DVDs with Scrappy because a lot of people hated him.

reply

Hated him ? I thought he was adorable as he was not afraid like his uncle.
Anyways i only want official dvd releases of those shows and i hope we get them soon.

There is one volume of the Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Show available and those episodes featured Scrappy.

Why would anyone want to see Scrappy Doo again..?

I think those 4 scooby doo series with scrappy are the only ones DVD UNAVAILABLE and i want them to complete my dvd collection i guess.

reply

I'd like to complete my collection too. I'm a HUGE Scooby-Doo fan and as much as I never really cared for Scrappy I'd like to own the whole series. I've been thinking about buying them on iTunes for a long time now but can never bring myself to actually do it!

Dragonzord! Mastodon! Pterodactyl! Triceratops! Saber Toothed Tiger! Tyrannosaurus!

Hopefully, Scrappy is at the bottom of a remote, inaccessible lake, in a heavy canvas bag, with iron chains wrapped around it.

reply

Hopefully but we all know that Scrappy is like Jason. He always finds a way to come back!

reply

I'm sorry if this response is too late. I think this is just a coincidence but a lot of people seriously hated Scrappy. In fact, there's an interesting website tvtropes.org that uses the term 'The Scrappy' to mean something like 'a new character people hated', although they certainly didn't intend that and I don't hate him much.
Something else that doesn't seem to have been mentioned is that in one of the movies (I think I've read) Scrappy is revealed to be the villain.

His head is WAY too big. That's my main problem with Scrappy.

PS: And the voice!

...and the fact that his every other word was "SPLAT!"....

"SPLAT?"

You just did that so I'd be forced to watch something with Scrappy in it, didn't you?!?!?

That was in the first live action Scooby Doo film.

Due to Scrappy's alleged lack of popularity(and lunkheadedness on Warner's part), Warner has withheld most material featuring the character so that means if you really want a DVD set with the shows featuring him annoy the hell out of Warner and DEMAND they release the series on DVD. There was even a book released recently about the history of Hanna Barbera and he barely gets a mention, let alone a pictured appearence.

The "Unpopular Scrappy" meme is antiquated internet garbage at this point.

1. Scrappy NEVER 'broke up' the group. When he was created, the show was actually on the brink of being canceled so they added his character and it WORKED. So well that Scrappy stayed a major charater on the show, even at one point having his own shorts(with uncle Yabba Doo) and co-star credit.

2. He's NOT the reason Fred and Velma exited the show. Again, this was a network mandated decision because when those really bad Shaggy, Scooby and Scrappy seven minute shorts were made, there was a writer's strike and several vocal performers participated; so to cut costs...the seven minute shorts were made in favor of the mystery themed episodes.

3. Scrappy as a villain in the Scooby Doo movie was a decision that got many fans angry, and dosent make much sense either. Why would Scrappy want to lead the group? How come Scooby, actually being related to Scrappy dosent do much about him or his behavior?

4. Plain and simple, Scrappy Doo was a popular character in the era of the cartoons he was featured in. If he wasnt a favored character like most people claim then the creators would've gladly gotten rid of him instead of keeping him around as long as he was there which was a good decade plus.

The first part is not true at all. Warner is not on some kind of crusade against Scrappy. That is also internet generation bs. They made a claim he was being kept hush-hush because of him not being on dvd sets. This is only partially true. he is only not mentioned on Ghoul School and 13 Ghosts. he is mentioned on the Scooby/Richie, Reluctant Werewolf and even shown on the Boo Brothers boxes. WB even offers digital downloads of all those seasons and Scrappy is in the title and on the picture. They aren't hiding him at all.

The reason Scooby Dvd season sets are at a lull is because Hanna Barbera sets didn't have good returns post first phase. They stopped or slowed down nearly all of them. This is why Warner Archive picked nearly all of them up. Scooby is one of the only franchises they are keeping at WHV (and even then it would appear they recently have made an alteration to some level in terms of one of those sreas). Becuase of this they are in limbo. But WHV in the last several months is slowly phasing into season sets again. So this is good news.

Hell even on the Scrappy fault. Scrappy episodes are even being used as bonus features and on random episode sets. WB knows Scrappy has fans and eventually whenever WHV finishes up the season sets of sends them to WA they will be on DVD.

But until then we have to deal with idiots who act like Scrappy doo is the scourge of the Earth who is being blacklisted from all products <_<

First off, the thread stalking is just creepy now. Stop it. I'm not kidding, you're freakin' creepy.

B. do you work for Warner or something? Your replies smell plant-like.

And 3. Warner is hiding him, his name is actually in the correct title of the Scooby/Fichie Rich Show. Alot of people dont go to the website either. They're sidelining him for the hipster revisionists, its pretty clear. Even Boomerang is reduced to showing just the first two seasons of 'Where Are You' instead of the whole series like they used to.

I have watched Scooby from the beginning in 1969, and have always Scrappy annoying, though not as annoying as Scooby Dum. I like 13 ghosts but largely for Vincent Price. The above mentioned spoiler was my favorite thing about the first live Scooby Doo movie.

It was mentioned that Scrappy was the villain in one of the direct-to-DVD movies.
So, what happened? Was Scrappy put down?
Note that Flim Flam was doing a 25-to-life stretch in prison--pretty harsh for a pint-sized con man!

In any case, Scooby didn't seem saddened by the loss of his nephew.
